Jimmy Anderson is the oldest England opening bowler since Les Jackson who at 40 years of age gained only his second England cap in 1961 against Australia at Old Trafford

His first one was 12 years earlier in 1949 against New Zealand and even the Aussie commentator today on TMS mentioned that it looked as though Jackson suffered from playing for the wrong county in Derbyshire and coming from a working class background.

He also mentioned les took over 1700 first class wickets at an average of around 17

You really do have an incredible chip on your shoulder. Do you think Derbyshire have suffered huge injustices throughout time.
I would say give it a break but your entertainment value is second to none.
If I ever met you I’d actually buy you a drink. 🍺

If you actually READ what I have posted instead of jumping to your obvious conclusion you will see that I am repeating what the Aussie commentator Jim Maxwell said earlier on TMS about Les Jackson

As for your clever grammar police alert post please look back on your earlier post which I think misses the point somehow lol

which I see you have now edited perhaps I should have put your ORIGINAL post lol

You really do not like being put in your place do you

Who were the England opening bowlers around that time? Fred Trueman (Yorks, WC background?) and Brian Statham (Lancs, WC background?)? If they were fit who were going to displace them?

I know that it's just that they reckoned Les Jackson had a rough deal over the years when let's say Southern based trundlers were picked instead particularly for overseas tours

Just ONE last observation then I see you missed out that you did have to edit your original post then lol and of course no mention of what my original about Les Jackson really said
Instead you resort to petty name calling

Met office weather report looking even worse now. Rain expected around 4pm.
With this in mind why don’t both teams agree to say a 10 over game so we can get a result. Probably what’s going to happen is one team bats their overs then the match will be abandoned 🤬

That's what you get when you play a stopper who can bat instead of your best wicketkeeper for England

Bump another example this morning I am afraid of a stopper not quite up to the task of being a top class wicketkeeper for England

Time for Foakes to regain the gloves I think

And who would you drop? Bairstow is one of the top 3 batsman in England. The only other option is dropping one of the openers and Bairstow opening.
Let’s not forget Bairstows brilliant catch in the first innings.

Whilst I agree about his batting in test matches it’s all well and good taking a one handed catch stood back but the stumping off green was regulation really and cost us somewhat. Also a couple of other half chances that foakes might have took that turn the game our way.

That said how you work the team to get Foakes in I’ve no idea. I don’t like the idea of Bairstow opening. Think it wastes his batting.

Let's not forget we've actually gone into this match with 3 wicketkeepers in the XI.

Yorkshire are going to have to bat well to chase this down.

Mike bowled very poor last over.
