for me i trust that paul cook will use his experience to put together the best squad he can for us next season, it MAY be constructed through a combination of advice from his recruitmnet team and his own contacts/experience of avaialble players.

And if reports about Grigg are true we are entering the world of plus £3k a week strikers and they are only that cheap cos they are past their prime.
So, much more due diligence required, not by Cooky who will know what colour underpants they wear, but by our financial planners. I think we'd have to be in the same ball park for a top class midfield general anawl so I foresee a much slimmer squad which might take another season to refine fully.
An outsider like me might think that there's a small dosier compiled for the Board's benefit on all prospective targets. That should be the rule. If Rowe ever did a single one I'd be surprised, and if he did I'd particularly like to see the ones for Gunning and Quigley

Moneyball is the terminology.
Analyse the market for players and buy/sign what is undervalued and sell what is overvalued.
Brentford and recently Notts County are supposedly proponents of the theory.

I'm intrigued, into what circles you move, if too know someone well, you have to fully aware as to the colour of their underpants.
Is the 19th at Walton the place to be?

I've just attended a training course on Hyperbolic writing, although I've not perfected it yet. You might call my effort Hyperbollox.
I'd have to kill you if I disclosed what happens at the 19th.

Grigg 128 appearances, 20 goals.
Quigley 155 appearances. 31 goals.
Accepted that Griggs have been at a higher level.
However to me it would not be a good signing.
Someone younger and hungrier with a point to prove would be my choice.

I have watched his 50 goals for Wigan video - razor sharp in the 6 yard box and several pens - all several seasons ago though. Nothing to write home about in recent seasons. He is on the way down but so was Jones - we can only trust Cook.

Agree. I feel Grigg would be a bad signing.
I'd rather chuck money at a saleable asset instead of a has been who has a re sale value of squat

He’s definitely your 20+ a season striker at this level.
Question could be does Dallas want to sign for a NL club? He might not be an option.

Much will depend on the amount of interest his signatûre attracts along with which clubs and the salary on offer.
I believe we have a 50:50 chance on this one but, at this stage of the proceedings, I would expect us to have 3 or 4 more alternative options under consideration as one strength in any negotiations is having the power to walk away rather than be held to ransom.

Absolutely no guarantee whatsoever that anyone is nailed on 20+ in this league. Too many factors come into play. His goal scoring record is not brilliant by the way.
Last season Mullen and Langstaff were benefitting from playing in teams that played to their strengths and created hosts of chances, can't see their goal scoring exploits being repeated this season for anyone.

Strewth, don't want another Chris O Grady type. What a waste of a wage
