Quite right, Bostock hasn’t suffered with injuries but I’d imagine there’s a reason a player has had 15 clubs by the age of 31 and a reason a player with his undoubted ability isn’t being employed at a higher level.

I think County allowed him to play his way into the latter half of the season and intergrate into the team, IIRC the initial view of NC fans weren’t particularly complimentary. He also had the benefit of playing in a good system with good wide players that allowed him to spray the ball around.
Personally I think we need to be ‘on it’ from the start next season and find the right players from day one. We’ve got to cut out those bad runs we get into and look to dominate the league if we want to go up. Even if there is no Wrexham or Notts we should work on the premise that next season will be just as tough and expect to be challenged hard.
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

As I said at the time they signed him….had we signed him some folk on here wouldn’t have been happy based on his track record etc. Asnut happened, and with Jobi Jones as well, it worked out well for county.

Players can have lots of clubs for various reasons. Just looking at a number isn’t very informative and leads to big assumptions.

He has played for 15 clubs, but only 9 of them are parent clubs. He was signed as a 16year old by Spurs from Palace. He’s had a number of loans out which is normal for a youngster 5 of which were when he was at Spurs up to the age of 21. So by 21 he’s already played for 7 clubs as part of his development.

Since the he’s had 7 parent clubs in the last 10 years, 5 of which were aboard. Two of the foreign moves seem to be down to good performances winning player of the year awards and getting bought by another team. The only question mark on the career is the Bursaspor and Toulouse contracts the were cut very short. I think he’s a player that needed to find a home with a manager and coaching team that could support and develop him.

So more to it than just a number is what I’m trying to say. :)

I think £30k is the limit, but if he's owed say £75k then he'd still get much more holding out for that (or larger chunk of it) even allowing for deductions.

I’ve been off the board for a few days pottering between Home and Claremont so I’m not sure how many times it has been covered but while walking Wilson down Whitt Moor I saw Will Grigg down at the Technique Stadium not once but twice.

I hope that we're not just gonna sign players from Cookies past cos if that's the case then what's the point of a recruitment centre?

Congratulations. You managed to name three players with question marks.
What that's all about I'll never know.

I’ve named 3 players Cook brought in that he hadn’t managed before. To suggest he will just sign players he’s managed before is just plain daft.

So what's the point of investing in a recruitment centre?

Oldaker, Cookie knew about from when he played at Gillingham.
Gyasi, Cookie saw play for Dover against us then signed him.
Dallas, Cookie saw play against us for obviously Solihull.

All players he saw and was impressed about, just because I said his past it didn't mean players he's not managed.

Considering he's managed as high as the Championship he will have managed against most of the players we know about that have recently been released, your argument is as much use as a bucket with no bottom. It holds no water.

The point is that we've gone to an expense of setting up a recruitment centre but all the players being mentioned now (with the exception of Roberts) are players Cookie knows all about anyway.
I'm not unhappy with the class of player he's bringing in, just merely asking the question of what is the recruitment centre for if we're not utilising it for the main part of the club?

That's actually assuming that Cookie doesn't already know about Roberts.

Knows about them doesn’t mean he knows ALL about them Names will be juggled about and looked at, I don’t really see your point. I don’t think he’d sign any player he doesn’t know something about.

I know what I mean. I'm not criticising Cookie as such cos everybody should know by now that I have every faith in him. But my point is that if the recruitment centre is supposed to find players but we seem to be going for the players that Cookie is telling them to go for then they're not finding players they're just acting on orders.

Again, it's not aimed at being any kind of argument or criticism just more of a query of the whole point of having a recruitment centre if we not using it to it's full potential.

But in that respect, the whole point of the recruitment centre/team is to find the kind of players that Cook says to be looking at, ...

Maybe the RC is more focussed on future potential, bringing in younger players to bring on?

It's a big expense for a youth system that doesn't get any funding though.
