I think some folk are looking for anything to suggest we were robbed

Regarding the indirect free kick as a result of the kicker touching the ball again following a goal kick then The correct actions were followed as per law 16. An indirect free kick should be awarded which it was and there are no requirements to show a card for this technical offence.

The only place you could look for in the rules for a card to be issued is law 12 which states “if the offence was denying the opposing team an obvious goal-scoring opportunity, the player is cautioned for unsporting behaviour; if the offence was interfering with or stopping a promising attack, the player is not cautioned.” As Dallas didn’t have the ball, nor close enough to it, it can’t possibly be considered an obvious goal scoring opportunity. As a result no caution.

But if the keeper hadn’t touched it again then Dallas would have got the ball, as he was the nearest player to it

Which beggers question why did the ref put the ball down where he did it wasnt there?

A very good question, who knows.
You can bet the powers that be and especially the refs appointments chapy are a bit embarrassed has to how game management went in the first 10 minutes of their showcase fixture

Crazy when you start thinking about things after the event - to be honest that first 5 minutes was a haze...far too much going off & never thought that technically his faux pas was 'denying a goal scoring opportunity'...should have been a yellow...& that pen foul was a deffo yellow.

I think most Notts fans think they got away with one there!!

It will be interesting to see whether it gets talked about in the media. I've not seen anything. Maybe if it had been Wrexham rather than us...

I see the County fans on Twitter are moaning that Dallas was offside when he was through for the penalty (really- I’m sure BT would have picked up on that) and they have put up a photo of Grimes pulling on Langstaff’s shirt in the box- but not one of the push on Akinola.

Agree on both in terms of reds, but both are yellow cards.

That's been my interpretation and 2 yellows = 1 red except this ref's decisions were no yellows at all.

Maybe the mind tricking me, but shouldn’t we have had a penalty in the 89th minute, Quigley totally floored in the box following a decent through ball from Akinola?

Seriously we had **** all luck today 🤬🤬

Basically the longer the game went on, the more biased the decisions against us seemed - well that's how it looked to me.

They had to please the Hollywood FC owners who were there supporting Notts County. We couldn't upset them now could we.

Perhaps a fair summary using the old cliche:- " mistakes win or lose games"

Slocombe made a horrendous mistake, but got out of jail.

The ref made a horrendous mistake, but nowt will happen and he may well learn from it.

We didn't make a mistake, but lost big time

Fitzsimons made a rather big mistake didn't he? I still think if he saves the free kick we would be a league club again now.

That's not the point though is it.
The game should have changed dramatically when the incident we are talking about occured. We would have (assuming we didnt give the ref chance to even it up!!) been playing against 10 men for 80ish minutes and the RF cock up may not have occured.

I put the highlights on earlier (up to the penalties anyway) and they didn't even show it.

Rubbish. Are you saying Dallas is crap? Obvious goal scoring opportunity and if not (but dont see how) robbed of a promising attacking situation also red.

PS. We're not looking for something to suggest we was robbed it's there starring you in the face. That's 4 out of 6 big games were we've succumbed to horrendous refing cock ups. Its getting frustratingly boring now

Not according to the laws of the game.

Indirect free kick was given. Law in this respect does not dictate any card should be shown for this offence.

You’re then trying to argue another point beyond the first offence. Dallas is not in possession of the ball so hasn’t been fouled, obstructed etc in order to constitute a OBVIOUS goal scoring opportunity. The first offence is the double touch which is blown for. That’s it.

They didn’t show it live as they were showing a replay of the Colclough shot that led to the goal kick initially. By the time they got back to live action the ref was giving the indirect free kick.

I don't know you but I believe we have a mutual mate (AB) now living Woking way who may be in a position to offer clarity.
