Cook Out

We are not entitled to be anywhere other than where we are.
We are here because the deadly duo appointed poor managers who in turn signed poor players.
We are about to achieve our highest league postion since 2013/2014 when we had a Manager called Paul Cook.
The following season we finished 6th in L1. Then the awful decline and rot set in.
You can"t turn round years of decline in 15 months, when you still have players signed by previous spendthrift managers on expensive contracts. You're managing a squad with one arm tied behind your back.
Calling for the managers head after finishing in the highest position for 9 years is ludicrous and something the entitled at S6 would do.
Paul Cook has stopped years of decline, steadied the ship and set the correct course.
We might not reach out destination this season but it"s not far away.
Changing the Manager will start the upheaval again and the decline will return until said new manager can get his own players in and if he's another Saunders or Cauldwell, God only knows what those players will be like.

Artistic license in play here calling any finish in the NL higher than those in the divisions above.

You can only compete in what league you're in and I consider 4th or 3rd a higher finishing position than 24th. Irrespective of the Division.

You might consider it but you'd be wrong. You presumably would consider 4th in this division to be higher than 5th in the Premier League by that rationale.

No matter how you frame the stats it is a ridiculous thing to say given that we are 4th, so if teams have worked out how to play us most of them aren’t doing a very good job!
Also looking at stats and claiming that a poorer 2nd half of the season proves this absurd theory is stupid an all, this period includes our bad run and this was not down to teams working us out, it was mainly down to urine poor finishing - we had enough good chances during most of those games to win them, if teams had worked us out, we wouldn’t have got those chances
Some of the posts on here from fans of a team in 4th place are beyond idiotic

Paint it how you want. We should be 3rd. Easily. And yes, teams have worked us out. That doesn't mean they'll win. It just means they come here and it's a big day out for them, and they know that if they sit back and just try and hit us on the break they'll usually not be under too much pressure due to our slow build up and lack of cutting edge. Then post match the winning manager compliments our lovely possession game whilst laughing all the way back to the dressing room.
We have the crowds. The resources. The facilities. Just scraping 3rd wouldn't have been acceptable. Anything less is embarassing.

The results at home back up this claim about working us out. The lack of wins at home in 3 months suggest there is sone truth in it. The alternative reason for that stat is even less palatable.

Much as I detest the man, Rowe turned this club round and actually took us to a play-off position from the depths of the relegation zone in his first half season.
After his demise, Cook came in and took us from a comfortable position in the play-offs to just scraping into them but did go one step further in the mini knockout stages.
Then, Cook has brought in or re-signed something like 25 players and in his first 12 months spent 77k on agents fees plus increasing his backroom staff. From what I understand, most if these players are on contracts which extend to the end of the 2023/24 season. So, not only is he hamstrung with his signings but, if he was replaced, then so would be the new incumbent. However, there is no way that with that amount of signings can it be argued that this is not his squad.
Now I accept that Rome wasn't built in a day so I think that whatever the outcome this season that Cook should remain in situ at least until the end of the 2023/24 season. If at the end of that season we have not witnessed a significant improvement then I think that would be an appropriate time to reconsider and it would tie in with the point in time when a good number of his players contracts run out.
Meanwhile, I hope he works out his best team with the right balance and tactics before the next 5 or 6 or 7 or 8 games we have left.

It’s probably likely in all honest that we won’t be go up this campaign. Hopefully the top 2 clinch both promotion spots, and Rochdale and Harrogate come down.
Give Cook the summer to strengthen and reassess at Christmas, if we’re not in touching distance of the top spot, or at the top, I think questions need to be asked.
Apart from Woking and Oldham (if they get there act together), we should be realistically looking to win the league outright.

Etc etc etc
Has 1 system and style of play and never moves from this
He makes his subs too late in games

It's all a con.
He's sticking with the same system has its doing its job, getting us into play offs. Then come the play offs when all opposition think they know how to set up against us plan 'A' will come into play and the opposition won't have time to figure out how to set up against our alternative style. Happy days

We're fourth. Pushing for third.
It's pathetic that people want him sacked and the season isnt done.

If we played total route one kick and rush, it would still be a good day out for opposition fans and they would still sit back and try to hit us on the break. It’s nothing to do with our style of play it’s more to do with other clubs seeing us as a bib club and seeing us as a bit of a scalp.
How would scraping third behind two teams with much bigger budgets than ours just be acceptable? Finishing below that embarrassing? Give your head a ahake

Well if we fail again this time do we stick or twist. Cook unfortunately has inherited long contracted deals which on the whole were bad decisions. They were sanctioned by the board for JR. Cook’s loanees were desperately needed due to lack of goals and it looks as though no one wanted to join us bat McCallum.
Be very interesting how the Kirk brothers view our manager.

Rowe started to turn it round at huge financial cost that is now coming back to bite us. Cook is working within stricter means under the Kirks.
