Hope that maybe on Saturday we may see a triallist or two? Do you think Rico regards this game as an actual pre season warm up game or just as a mess around for Blathers testimonial? We seem to have started our pre season games rather later than most clubs so I would think/hope that he is taking it at least half seriously.
You reckon there will be a load of random players from Blathers playing days?

Wasn't actually singling out Frutos really. I guess he caught my eye because he is a winger which is what we need and did a job in the Championship the season before last. His name was mentioned a while back to me during general chit chat about football as looking like a decent player although I didn't get the chance to see him play last season and now is available on a free transfer. Also I would prefer us to sign someone like him on a proper contract rather than getting someone with no first team experience (who admittedly may be eventually technically better than a player like Frutos) on a season long loan.
And yeah his name is better than Smith or Jackson and seeing as he played a whole season in the championship his pedigree would suggest he is a better footballer than Smith or Jackson.
These are my reasons. I have no in depth knowledge about the guy I just think he represents they type of player we could feasibly sign who would be positive for the club and available if we are on the ball and get in there first.

Hopefully the news of his release from Brighton will have triggered Rico & Knill etc to get on the 'phone. Assuming of course that he is the type of player we're after.

And also assuming he's the type of player who'll play for thirty bob a week...

Definitely. Like when we got Shinner after he was in rehab. Although I'm not quite sure where we supplied his drugs from?! It's not as if we were sponsored by Boots back then.
Heard that Reevsey put all the other players drug advise leaflets in Shinner's bag when he first joined the club. We need some more characters like him around the club, and he could play football!

I'm all for a resident joker. Sadly that was pretty much all that Reevesy offered in the latter part of his time with us.

Are you suggesting the club engages a court jester?

Unlike our midfield, we've got real options in that area.
In fact, we could do with getting rid of a few....

Iwould have thought what he didn't do last season as opposed to what he did the season before would have been more relevant

True. They always say that class is permanent though. Anyhow he may just not have liked Brighton.....maybe some guy tried it on with him in a bar or something.

The former Metz midfielder has secured a trial spell with an unidentified club in his native France and misses the Seagulls' friendly at Bognor tonight (7.45).
