I agree. I was a tad more reassured than I was after last weeks DT.

The fact he seems to be busting a gut trying to get a few deals done, when some people seem to have thought he had given up, and had sat back happy with the squad. I personally ha started wondering whether we were doing enough, but it seems at the moment its more players and clubs messing about. It wasnt amazing news, not the type to make you fall offf your chair, but all the same encouraging.

Fair enough mate.

You probably won't be surprised to learn that i saw things differently though. To me it looks like we've gone from (talk of) a "hit-list" of potential signings, to desperately searching yet being turned down or messed about. What's more we've (apparently) gone from the big-budget signings of Fletcher and Lester to more downmarket "shopping". And the only way we could fund that was to flog off our Captain for less than his true worth.

I'm sorry to have to say this, but both the last two DTs have begun to confirm my worst fears.

Here Chris .... can I buy ya a pint mate .... your's is looking a bit half empty there!!
I guess time will tell, once the signings are made ... it's easy to go either way ... at end of day big promises have been made before, and we've been let down ... but Lester and Fletcher do point to hope, who knows eh? We'll see!!
Now, what was that drink again?

Is anybody else getting a touch of deja vu here? This business of a lack of midfielders has come up in exactly the same way for the last three seasons with any amount of breast beating about how lacking we were in the engine room. On one notable occasion it ended with the arrival of Sammy Clingan, and somehow we always managed to stagger through. However, that was when we had Allott and Niven as the base to build from - now only Niv is left it's a pretty small base. Perhaps one of these years we'll have a settled midfield in place before training starts - it is the most important part of the team after all.

You can buy me a pint anytime pal.

I keep saying how much i hope i'm proved wrong, i hope Richardson is up to the job, i hope Hubbard's assurances come to fruition and i hope the future's bright for Chesterfield FC.

But unfortunately hope seems to be all we have at the moment.

On second thoughts you'd better make that two pints.

Not last season, we went down did we not? and the midfield is even weaker as it stands now.

How many guts did the club bust trying to get a striker in last season? How many did we get? Might have had something to do with the Hubbard expecting us to go down though, he's a disgrace

Ha ha ... you're right, much of it is based on hoping things come together ... guess it's the same at all clubs, though some may be a bit more hope filled given their squad depth etc.

Maybe our run out theme should be the song from Shawshank Redemption!! The one Andy plays then talks about hope!! :(

We managed to field a half-decent midfield was the point I was making. We went down because we lacked strikers.

So you don't consider the fact that Mac said he had the money available if he wanted new strikers was of any significance? He was lying all the time and Mr.Hubbard was sitting on the cheque book - is that what you're saying?

Exactly, Mac was only a puppet and would have said anything the Hubbard told him to say, no manager worth his salt if equipped with the money would have gone so long without strengthing his side when it was in such dire straits, but to have a chairman as poor as the Hubbard to come out with a statement like the 'we expected to go down' and to make matters worst without any effort to avoid the drop, in my eyes stinks, perhaps the Hubbars statement should have read 'I wanted us to go down'

As for the midfield last season they were shocking just like the rest of the team and it is considerable weaker now than then

Do you actually believe this stuff yourself? It certainly casts an interesting light on the way your mind works.

I'm sorry, but you seem to have lost me there. Perhaps if you were to communicate in the English language instead of childrens' cartoons we might get somewhere. Only if you feel up to it, mind.
