Yes they had a great side in 1970, one of the greatest of all time, and also had huge success before that, but since???
In 74 they were awful. In 82 they had perhaps their last truly great team but didn't get to the final.
They won it in 94 with an ordinary side, winning perhaps the worst final ever on penalties.
They won it again in 2002 with a good but not truly great team.
And since??? They were thoroughly humiliated in their own back yard in 2014.
They have had some decent players this century such as Kaka, Ronaldinho and Rivaldo. But I always though fat Ronaldo was overrated as was Roberto Carlos, although I probably never saw the best of them.
What Brazil usually do have, rather like Germany, and unlike England, is the ability to go deep in the competition even when they don't have a great team or play that well.
However, despite their past successes ultimately they have been no better or more successful over the past fifty years than Germany, France, Italy or Argentina and the incessant media worship of them seems unwarranted.
