How many people on here didn’t go? Reading it retrospectively obviously. Interested in how many people chose to watch the game on tele and why.

As an overseas exile who rarely gets to see a game, I jumped at the chance thanks to TownFan’s efforts. I honestly thought that the commentary was pretty even handed but everyone hears it differently I guess
These pretzels are making me thirsty!

I haven't been to a live match for 4 years because I can't afford it.....Good enough reason?

I'm very happy to come out of that with three points. They looked a very well organised and quick outfit, and for the first 10 minutes played the same way we do, only better. Then we got it sorted and the goal was the reward. If they concentrated on the football instead of the amateur dramatics they'd be even better, and I just wonder if Osborne's antics do them a lot more harm than good, in ruining their concentration. Fortunately we didn't go behind - it inspires him to greater heights when they have a lead to defend.
Whelan's a different player now he's super-fit, which he certainly wasn't earlier in the season. He does have a tendency to commit full-blooded to tackles and leave himself trailing if beaten, but he's going to have to step up even more when everybody's fit.
So that's two more sitters missed by Quigley, two shooting chances by Mandeville and a shooting chance each to Dobra and Whelan. That's just off the top of my head - there were certainly others. It happens week on week and we still keep winning, so I suppose I should just sit back and enjoy the ride, but we'll regret it one day for sure.
Jones MoM, and I thought the ref had a good game, though he obviosly missed one glaring foul. He let the game flow, at least.

What’s a “quick outfit” please. Not heard it before. Agree totally with Jones.

I re watched the game after the match and red all day long as he meant to do it

It’s amazing that in such a dreadful economic climate when people are having to use food banks that some people don’t seem to understand and appreciate that going to football simply cannot be a priority.
I watched it on the stream and I was very grateful for the link as there is no way I can afford BT either when I have other far more pressing economic issues.
I wasn’t aware that such streams were available though and am surprised BT don’t find some way to prevent them.

On another issue Paul Fisher radio Deeh Dah reporter said at half time that town were leading against the run of play and Solihull had been the better team. Don’t know which match he was watching. Although I was distracted by someone at the door during the fist ten minutes.

My impression, at the match, was that Solihull were very slick indeed up to where it mattered. Their link up play, at speed, was outstanding and I credit our defensive setup with having the ability and organisation to cope.

In fact, old scores not withstanding, I thought the whole game was an immense credit to the standard. Our link up play, pressing, running off the ball surpassed their's as the game went on.

Brilliant entertainment.

Agree with this. The likes of that first ten minutes must never be allowed to happen again at home. We should start on the front foot at home.

If we had fallen behind it could have been a very different game.

Great professional performance by us. Yes Solihull had a lot of the ball but mostly in their half!! Created next to nothing. The game could and probably should have ended 4 or 5 to 1 if we took our chances.

As an aside why, when our kit and sports clothing are Puma made, was the management and back room staff all wearing NB, New Balance, labelled gear?

I think the league has a deal with NB where management has to wear NB gear on matchdays

You are very dramatic. Sometimes I think you forget that there is another team playing who wants to try and win the football match

Our keeper only made about two saves all day and none of them were first 10mins…I think both were after we were 2-0 up.

Yes, Solihull made a quick start, but did they really threaten our goal in that period, No.

I thought King gave the ball away more in the 1st 20 minutes than he has all season, but the cover behind him , especially from the fantastic Jones mopped everything up.

Once we got the goal for me the game was never in doubt, it was more about how many chances would we convert, and 2-0 flatters Solihull.

Very impressed with Clements overall play, Horton going to have to be patient having done little wrong himself.

Another one who is going to struggle to get his place back is Banks.
You can't drop Jones on current form, and it's either Akinola or Whelan alongside DJ for me.

Of course it's Chris, Mick. You know it is. And I stand by each and every one of my posts ridiculing our little neighbours. Because they deserved 'em. But if y'wanna attach some sorta similar rivalry to an outfit far more tin pot than they'll ever be, bereft of the historical socio-political issues dividing our two towns, then be my guest.

However taking the step back I suggested from today's game, I give credit to Solihull for playing football. From the back. In the same way we do. Which then allowed us to be better at it. Did Osborne try to influence the Ref'? Of course he did. Were they in his face after every decision? Again, of course they were. Yet thankfully we had a bloke in the middle who ignored their sh*thousery.

So again as I suggested we must surely return to our real rivals. Wrexham and Notts. Who watching today's game must surely realise we can still deliver football lessons despite King falling below the high standards he's set. Dobra not quite at his best. A much maligned Quigley once again proving he's not a 'natural' goalscorer.

Or on the other hand previously sidelined players like Whelan covering every blade of grass and deserving their standing ovation after being subbed. For an Akniola who did so much to create our second goal. Not to mention raw talents such as 'Jez' coming on and assiduously adding to the Cook-esque team ethic.

I know the 'Tup's your manor. Infact I'm pleased for you it's re-opened. Yet unless a certain pro Carson and Co character who claimed summat similar - before performing a full retreat when genuine regulars such as your good self suggested he introduce himself - is prepared to join us in a friendly beer, I'll politely decline a masturbation of any anti National League prejudices therein.

Mate, we know what these clowns are all about. They revel in visiting our forum and discovering they're some sorta David to our Goliath. I'm not gonna give 'em that satisfation. Infact I'll simply offer credit where it'd due as we rise above fifth tier trivialities...

Yes, of course I knew it you was Chris, I was emphasising my suprise at your stance on not questioning opponents shortcomings (I'm being polite) on a football message board, I'd like to think that's what they're for. I wouldn't be too concerned re these teams taking the p.. I had a look on their MB and found that we probably have more match related threads (😒) after a defeat than they have posts (16) on their current match thread.

I've never considered soilyhull a rival, I consider them to be a club that epitomises all that is wrong with this league, but unlike bromley and boredom whose sh..housery rests with inadequate coaches, soilyhulls comes from the top, as was seen with last season off field anatics.

Yesterday was like a breath of fresh air, good ref and TV cameras helped to curtail their normal on field tactics and being away meant their directors had no input.

You do the locals of the Tup a disservice, if the only incentive to go there was to have a chat with a chap who you know ain't going to show, says little for the ale or even the Moretti. Oh and many will testify that conversations in that establishment doesn't revolve round slagging (a better choice of word) off of opponents tactics.

You've got to love irony, so that finish a little gem found whilst perusing the soilyhull message board. "Their play acting and other antics today went completely unpunished and were not only blatant but laughable. Shysterfield FC indeed".🤣🤣

Solihull a club rotten from the top

Solihull a club rotten from the top

There is a delicious irony in that statement but lets not show his lack of self awareness. Move over ‘Ossie’ Osbourne, ‘Dobbie’ Dobra has arrived and he made a complete ass of you winning that free kick.
