Great professional performance. Could have had more but 2-0 will do. Only team to score in every match so far.
We had a great game plan and bar a great save from Fitz looked very comfortable.

IMO today was the only poor game I’ve seen from King all season. His passing was awful today but having said that, excellent delivery for our first.
For me, Grimes was excellent but my MOM was Mike Jones. He’s made a huge difference since coming in and his reading of the game is just what we were missing.

I like the look of Fitz. Comes off his line when needed and made at least one first class save today.
Covolan will have to be content with being number 2 keeper for the foreseeable for me.
And his clean sheet record is good too.

So the defeat was all about them, according to Arseley, nothing good about us

Fitz even did a Covs style header

Praise to the ref for a good strong performance letting the game flow and again stopping ‘their’ time wasting/ breaking the flow of the game.
If you want to get into this team or keep your place then you’ve got to earn it, Cook has rewarded players like Whelan, Bailey - Clements and Jones with a run in the team which they are benefiting from. There will be no automatic return for injured players because no one can convince me that those in possession of the shirt don’t deserve it.
Games are rolling up now and we see points being dropped with our closer rivals, our squad is relatively strong so do we need loanees as was mooted last week. Why chance disheartening those patiently waiting their chance.
Finally Ross Fitsimmonds has to get a mention, the one on one save was tremendous at that stage of the game - allowed us to play the game out and secure those points.

Onto Wimbledon now, which is a very winnable game, then over to West Yorkshire to play a fast improving Halifax side.
Not cursing it, but it looks a distinct possibility we may have 50 points before Christmas Day. When was the last time that happened?

Felt we were far too wasteful with some very good opportunities and should have been out of sight by HT and added a few more after. Apart from Quigley, Dobra, Mandeville & Whelan missed good opportunities. Our final pass could have been better several times too. Tshimanga came on but never got a sniff.
Having said all that, nobody can fault the work ethic of this group of players and if we can add a little more ruthlessness up front along whilst eliminating the defensive carelessness we should still be challenging at the end of the season.
