Does anybody think he is going to be convicted of this?

With his Dad being a big-time lawyer, and sexual assault cases being notoriously difficult to gain a conviction.

I have a horrible feeling he's going to get away with it...

People like him invariably do get away with it, which is extremely sad for the victims. I am hoping the CPS have enough evidence to allow a jury to do the right thing.

That was deleted too, Misnomer will remain on Mod preview until the conclusion of the trial

It’s still there. The question itself isn’t an issue but any answers might be.

CPS must think there is a good chance of a conviction to take it this far.

Maybe they feel they have to have the charges tested, in fairness JR has been found guilty by many and the complainant has to have their allegation prosecuted.
God I hate this league.

The Derby Telegraph online (Derbyshire Live) seems to have a slightly fuller report than that on the Derbyshire Times page. It appears to have quotes from the judge, for example.

As far as I am aware, his father worked (possibly still works) in football and is not a lawyer. I may be wrong.

Maybe I'm wrong... Someone told me his dad was a high-profile lawyer, but I couldn't tell you who or when!

Def not his dad, if you believe Wikipedia.... but maybe it was his father in law (or partners dad if that is more appropriate)?

Judge just saying the basics really, that if Rowe is found guilty then the sentencing powers of a magistrates court arnt sufficient for what the sentence could be so therefore it needs to go to Crown Court, also bail granted with no conditions due his previous good character and no complaints during his time already on bail.
The date at Derby isn’t a trial date but a plea and case management hearing. So probably still some way to go yet.

it was all one comment, "his previous good character and no complaints WHILST ON BAIL". There is no punctuation to distinguish the two items so both must be assumed to apply to the condition at the end.

Posted for information only. I'm not inviting comment regarding anything contained within this extract from the article.

from the Derbyshire Live piece. Timed and dated at '11:48, 7 NOV 2022 UPDATED 13:29, 7 NOV 2022'

' Adjourning proceedings, District Judge Andrew Davison said: "I have listened carefully to what has been said. All courts have to follow the appropriate guidelines and having looked at the guidelines if you were convicted the sentencing levels of this court would not be sufficient.

"You will be sent to the crown court and I will grant you bail. You will have to appear before the crown court in Derby in four weeks' time.

"That is not a trial date, that will be a plea and case management type of hearing. I am granting you unconditional bail, as you have been on bail for time and there is no complaint as to your conduct [since investigations began]. You have attended on time and you are a man of previous good character." '

I think there was a similar situation in the Ched case, perhaps you are getting the two mixed up

His dad is Colwyn Rowe, ex Colchester and Chelmsford player, then erstwhile coach, including a spell as manager of Botswana and then St Vincent and the Grenadines. Now 66. So yes, unlikely to be his Dad.

If it’s his partners Dad, that would have been an interesting conversation to be heard when the matter was first mentioned.
