Don't know if this link will work but very funny clip of Kevin Lynch ex referee talking about a Chesterfield v Sunderland game at Saltergate.

https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMNvHeuCd/

If the link doesn't work search for him on TikTok, think he'd make a great after dinner speaker.

That’s what I was thinking, I think Hewitt scored for us and they either equalised with a penalty or Muggleton had saved one prior to their equaliser.

No pitch invasion at the end and the linesman at the far end of the ground wasn’t even in front of the Sunderland fans.

I listened a couple of times but it seemed to be Jon Parkin bragging about bullying people and the others sucking up to him. Perhaps I should give it another go- I’ll listen to the Lynch one.
These go to eleven.

Hewitt put us 1 up and they equalised with a (dodgy) penalty late on. Remember a 17 year old Carl Muggleton being stood in the penalty area in front of the kop looking petrified as carnage went on all around him.

Pretty sure the ref caved and gave the penalty because the Sunderland fans would have just kicked off even more after a defeat.

Very dodgy penalty won and scored by ex Blade John Macphail.

Having watched that I still question how did Travis manage to score to goals at Notts C.in the cup.
Derbyshire is Derbyshire
Yorkshire is Yorkshire

I remember the game very well, Sunderland fans were the noisest I've ever heard before kick off at saltergate.but I don't remember Sunderland winning 3-0 or any pitch invasion.thats kind of spoilt the whole story now for me

He must have got the teams mixed up because he also says fans in front of the stand by the tunnel - I’m sure the new brick steps had been built by then so no fans were in the paddock terrace that used to be there
A new hope.
