Looking at the table we will have played 4 teams out of the top 10 by Friday night. So, we've certainly not had an easy start to the season.

Today, before kick-off we would have taken a point and Notts would have been disappointed with only the one. At the final whistle we were disappointed with just one point and Notts remained disappointed too. Horton probably should have tried to put his foot through the ball for their first goal but it appeared to come off his shin to Langstaff who took it brilliantly. Williams seemed to misread the cross for their second whilst King did nothing to put Langstaff off.

Whilst Tshimanga got more minutes he contributed little and unless Quigley was truly knackered after his work rate both Tuesday and today I felt it was the wrong substitution at the time. Their CBs were struggling with Joe's hold up play and he played a part in both our goals. After he went off nothing stuck up front. King, of course, got involved again when it wasn't necessary to pick up yet another yellow card so, at this rate, it won't be long before we see how good Sheckleford is. Two good goals from Mandeville and Asante to become our joint leading goalscoreers on 2 each as well. Ref seemed to make some strange decisions once Notts got back into the game whereas he had done quite well previously.

Anyway, 4 points out of 2 our favoured competitors for promotion in a week isn't a bad return but has also left us with things to work on improving. We still need to be more ruthless in front of goal and work out our defending of the space behind our attacking full-backs but I trust Cook and his staff are aware of this and more.

Roll on Friday night.

I thought Fitzsimons' distribution was awful, very keen for Covolan to come back into the team

I thought his starting positions were bang on. There were a lot of balls that he allowed the defenders to deal with that Covolan would've committed to clearing.
I would keep him in.

The pyro on the pitch was bad enough but what idiot threw the banger on the pitch shortly afterwards? If that had hit anyone OUR club would be in deep trouble. If you want to play with fireworks then wait to Nov.%th and go to Stand Road park. We don't want the club hitting with a fan ban so keep them away from football, better still light em and shove em up your arris whoever you are. IDIOTIC PRAT>

What's that got to do with his distribution? Almost every time he got the ball he pumped it long, even when the full backs were completely free. We'll be a much better side with Covolan.

Me too. Thought he could have done better with both goals.

We were well on top at 2-0, but the game turned following Horton's mistake which seemed to unsettle him and led to a jittery performance until he was subbed. Their first goal gave them a belief which had been absent up until then and seemed to give their players a shot of adrenalin - and a quick-fire equalizer, whilst at the same time the quality of our play diminished and we lost momentum although still looked a threat going forward with Dobra again outstanding, but our discipline slipped and we started making errors. I lost count of the number of times we were caught in possession as the second half progressed and felt we began to look a bit leggy, probably a reaction from the fantastic all-round effort in the win against Wrexham four days previously? Nevertheless I still thought we were the better footballing side, and but for gifting them a way back into the game we would be matching Barnet point-for-point tonight - however I'm confident that we'll be three points clear of the Bees by this time next week!

That might have had something to do with how we were playing. Even the defenders pumped it forward quicker. Watch the match again if you can, you'll see what I mean.
He probably was only playing to instruction. But the fact is that he has helped organise the defence well against three good teams. But then again Covolans starting position allowed the defence to play higher up the pitch which meqnt we defended better from the front.

Glad Cookie has got this problem.

We were making silly errors in the first half. Said to my mate ,”Cooky will sort that at half time”, but didn’t. Horton was hesitant and making mistakes the whole game.

I've not recorded it to watch it back, but when Banks' free-kick floored their man in the wall and went out for the throw in that never happened, did the ref blow to stop play for the head-injury before it went out?

Our free kick, went out for our ball, but ref' gave them an uncontested drop ball.

Errr...
Never underestimate the stupidity of people

All drop balls are uncontested now. A drop ball would have been right if he'd blown for the head-injury before the ball went out, but I don't think he did.

Baffling refereeing.

Whistle did go before ball went out, but the drop ball should have been played back to us or put out by their player for us to regain possession, that didn't happen.

That was Brandon's worst performance so far, however he is a cracking young player.

Indeed. Just trying to understand the referee. The drop ball should have been ours absolutely.
