Bring a tent and sleeping bag? ;-)

Saw a lot of the larger counties seem to be using this competition to host games at outgrounds with their usual grounds being used in the Hundred. I'm off this week and quite interested in a trip to York or Grantham to catch a game I would otherwise have no interest in seeing.

If I had nothing better to do I’d be tempted too. Not that I wish them much luck, but Notts seem to have had pretty poor fortune re the weather when it comes to games at Grantham.

Derbyshire had two points docked in the royal London cup after someone’s bat that was legal then had tape applied which made it illegal and didn’t pass the bat gauge test.

We lost the match against Hampshire anyway last Friday so it seems the ECB are finishing off what slight chance we had of qualifying for the quarter finals anyway

It is Porkshire which is really rubbing salt into the wound but unfortunately money talks and we can't compete with them in that respect. I just hope we thrash them in the park today.....again!

I didn't go as all day on a Sunday doesn't work for me with family commitments, but watched a fair chunk on the stream. I suspect all parties will be pretty disappointed at such a poor surface for a one day game, even if it made for a close finish.

It was pretty typical of the wickets us club cricketers come across at Queen’s Park on a regular basis. Played on some right rubbish the past few years on there. Seen folk bowled by spinners landing ut half way down the track then rolling etc on plenty of occasions.

Just seen this on twitter from Chesterfield Cricket Club, in case anyone is interested in going before the match.

Mike Taylor plaque unveiling

This Saturday we will be unveiling a plaque at 1pm at Queens Park in memory of the great Mike Taylor. Anyone who would like to attend is more than welcome, the bar will be also open for a drink where we will raise a glass for Mike 💙

Looks like Mickey Arthur is being tapped up for the Pakistan head coach role.

Yep saw that last night, good news indeed. Not so sure its his love of the Derbyshire job but more the fact he didnt want the full on 12 month continuous grind of being an international coach again. Seems they are still keen to drag him back into the Pakistani cricket scene either as a consultant to the national side or coaching one of their t20 franchise teams in the PSL...whether he does and how that would impact his role at Derbyshire i dont know.

What a cracking performance so far. Batting like they're playing on a old North Derbyshire League wicket.

It’s strangely comforting to have the old Derbyshire back.

I thought you had been called up to bowl for Ireland when I saw the Sri Lanka scorecard.

Funny you should mention that. A few years ago, went to Galle on the train. On exiting the station my missus spotted a handbag superstore so I scuttled over the road to watch some net practice at the cricket ground. After about 10 minutes some kindly chap suggested I should have ago and pointed to a large bag of kit I could use. Having observed the excessive bounce and side ways movement, meaning protection was the order of the day, but concluded with all the kit on offer I wouldn't be using a communal box so I declined. I do have regrets. The moral of the story being 'when visiting cricket playing countries take your own box'.
