He wanted effing for that, forgive the parlance, he went after their player when he’d already got the free kick. He frightened me to death I thought he was out for a year!

I said to my dad i thought Banks was old manning the ref,we were 2-0 up and it was a perfect opportunity to break any rhthym up,i dont think there was anything up with him at all, great kidology imo.

He seemed to play on alright after he came back on and walked off the pitch fine.
Let's not forget that he's an ageing pro now so he probably stayed down to give the team some time to regroup cos it was at a time when Wrexham we're building up a head of steam. Broke the game up and worked in our favour.

Exactly there was nothing up with him

If he was genuinely injured, he’d have come off and been replaced.
Little bit of ‘old manning’ for me. And done well too.

The real "worry" is who's Ollie's back up should he get injured, Jones I suppose, I know Jones is a battler but what's his passing like?

I assumed it to be Oldaker. His range of passing seems to be just as effective and Jones could do the Oldaker job.
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

People rating him by his previous time here.

I don't think he was ever used in the same way in his first spell with us. I watched his first trial game on the Tube Works ground with his dad and Cook watching, and his passing was his strength even back then. Nicky Law, his uncle, said he had one fault - he couldn't run - he wasn't quick. Anybody who watched any of his games for Tranmere and Barrow, playing deep as Cook has him playing, would know before he arrived that he can run a game with his range of passing. As the old adage goes - it's footballers we want not runners.

Oh I do, I do.

Having suffered from this Bunkum for years the old saying "when in Rome etc" comes into play. Expecially when the recipient is a manager who has made a career out using such 'go to' shithouse tactics.

Credit to our physio, Banks went down clutching his knee and our physio treated said knee, not an arm, wrong leg, left ankle or a dose of syphilis dependent on what cue card some of these unprofessional professionals may be using at the time.

he seems to have perfected the 'Talbot' art of inviting contact before going down and 'winning' a free kick

There was one point second half in particular, right in front of the home dug out, where he threw himself across the opponent with very little chance of controlling the ball, ended up in a heap after minimal contact and won the free kick and relieved the pressure.

He was good his previous time here. He was just trying to forge a place in a team that was one of our best ever and wasn't quite up to it. It was clear to anyone with eyes he had talent and obvious from his career path after leaving that he was a really solid League 1/2 player.

It's strange that he's here in a way, as he's a better player than he was back then.

He was a young lad with potential when he came to us, his development took off when he left us and he has picked up a lot of experience and agree he has come back a much improved player.

He never really had a position back then and barring injury/suspension the middle two positions were tied up. The odd thing is that he either chose to ignore of not seek a club higher placed. I guess a combination of competitive wages, location, Cook and the 'project' are enough.

That finish was quality even if it looked simple

The only player you’d want that chance to fall to

The real genius was Dobra's. He had the whole sequence in his head before he decided what to do with the ball and he laid it on a plate.

He's amazing - too good for this league; let's hope he moves upwards with us. If he can forge a partnership with Kabongo, it will be absolutely lethal.

If I could bothered I’d bump some of those threads dedicated to him back in 2015

It would be funny to see who said what about Ollie Banks

I'll admit I was no fan back then, and tbh I wasn't that bothered about him coming back, but I'm also big enough to admit I was wrong, and wow, massively wrong, he's come back a totally different player, has found a position that suits his play add to that Cook has added a partner to suit him and each other, which (in the early stages) looks to be the strongest midfield pairing we've had since morsy/Ryan, and quite possibly the best in the league...
all we are saying, is give us ...a goal, or 2+

Well it helps he’s also playing two leagues lower

He wasn’t good enough back then, at that time, in that league, at that stage of his career, playing the role he was. Couldn’t head or tackle.
His heading and tackling has improved. His passing with time on the ball was never in question.
The role he’s playing now fits with what we need and he looks like he has all the time in the world to pick his passes. Credit to the other players as well for making the necessary runs for him to pick them out.
