And Derbyshire have done it won by 98 runs

We must be the most improving side in the Country and done it without Mhamood

Very much so. He only seems to play in the Championship games though.

His second innings partnership with McKiernan, and his bowling in the Worcs second innings, has certainly turned this game in our favour.

He had a spell last season playing white ball but seems to have dropped out of favour on that front.

Another vital toss lost. 14-4, make that 5. Losing wickets quicker than I can type

And no overseas after this game (Cartwright going back) unless Masood gets of drinks duties.

Well not a 'vital toss' after all (stupid me). What a strange game cricket is.

Well done Anuj Dal, what a performane.

from 14 for 5 on the first morning it shows again the fighting spirit that Micky Arthur has certainly installed in this Derbyshire team

As for Dal what about a long term prospect as captain because the complication is that Billy Godleman recently added another year to his present contract

Nothing to stop him standing down as captain for the good of the team though

Godleman got runs for the seconds today, hope he’s starting to turn it round.

True, but no doubt other teams will have the same problem re the "crappy hundred".
My point being 3 tosses lost when initial conditions were going to play a big part and did. As the overs go by things seem to be improving, but cost 5 batsmen(?) getting there.

Suspect some of the other sides have better squad depth to cope with it compared to us. Take Madsen, Du Plooy and Scrimshaw out and its a big hole.

Exactly. 3 games on the trot fortunately against Worcester we had time to correct it, but not against Notts and today. A different call a different game.

Just to say this is a 50 overs match for each side so it is longer than the 20 overs matches you normally see on TV

It will start at 11pm and will finish about 630pm if it goes the full distance

Derbyshire seem to have an easy win against Essex tonight but the Essex team had lots of their first team players missing. The competition really has become a joke with all the top players playing in the 100 or resting before the next test series.

Bring a tent and sleeping bag? ;-)

Saw a lot of the larger counties seem to be using this competition to host games at outgrounds with their usual grounds being used in the Hundred. I'm off this week and quite interested in a trip to York or Grantham to catch a game I would otherwise have no interest in seeing.

The ECB is discussing a reduction in county cricket for the 2023 season. Also, plans to reshape the county championship into three or four mini leagues where 10 or twelve games are played. Some counties could even lose their first class status and financially poorer ones could be looking over their shoulders. This comes as the ECB plan cricket for what they call, 'a new generation' consisting mainly of white ball cricket. Lancashire members are up in arms at the county cricket reduction.

It seems red ball cricket is in danger. Already the importance of the county game is diminished as players are 'stolen' from their counties to play in the 'Hundred' resulting in weakened teams as players go to slog for teams with absurd American names. It's a worrying time for cricket lovers.
