When Saturday Comes.... Dawn of a new season

That time of year again....excitement & expectation is starting to build....I think last year, we all expected to be challenging at the top with a slight hint of nervousness thinking, 'something is bound to happen to screw up the season'....well it did.
This season, there is this air of pure optimism, excitement & a true belief in expectation that we will consistently be battling for those top 3 slots....in my view this is purely down to one man...Paul Cook. Yes he divides opinion, but having him back is the real deal...his experience, knowledge & man management makes him the best manager by a mile in this league.
I know it's always tongue in cheek about pasting the 'lower classed' teams....but as we know, & found out very quickly, this league can quickly trip you up....so expect the up's & downs. (Scunthorpe & Oldham are in for a nice shock)
Dorking are a prime example, on paper...should win...in reality (and i watched their documentary), their manager is a pretty awesome geezer....clearly very talented in what he does & how he gets success from his teams - they will cause a lot of upsets this season & fair play to them. I'd quite happily scrape a 1-0 win there on Saturday.
We'll expect the usual tripe & negativity from the usual suspects, no doubt....& i really hope they are eating humble pie come next May.
Hold on tight peeps.....i think this is going to be an enjoyable one....really looking forward to being down in Dorking on Saturday

I was talking to an Oldham fan at bearded theory. given that was end of may & their circumstances have changed slightly, he said him & his mates were under no illusions. theyd all take staying up this coming season as they all thought there was a realistic chance theyd go straight through. the club was a 'basket case'.

He doesn't divide opinion in any significant way, there's maybe 2 weirdos who don't back him, everyone else is positive

In legends of the spire they have a nucleus of players who have stayed through consecutive promotions. 2 forwards one of which scored a glut of goals last season and who has been on the radar of other clubs has decided to stay.
Let’s hope he’s too busy closing down to break his duck this season.
God I hate this league.

I'm really looking forward to the start of this season.
I don't mind saying, I was very critical of PC last season, but I'm prepared to eat humble pie.
PC has assembled a good squad, more pace in it and quality than he inherited.
The football in the friendlies has been a pleasure to watch, plenty of goals, chances, defensive solidity and the players look fit and happy with the system and style of play.
I will be following the Dorking game online, in Orlando before flying back for the 1st home game.
