Only while Clarke, Rowe, Cooper, and maybe Gyasi get up to speed, then it's a back seat for him..
Well, Clarke has done nothing much yet apart from look promising in the odd few matches he's been fit enough to play. At his age, I think this could be a big season for him. If he comes back into the fold and unleashes the promise and talent he seems to have he should move upwards. If he comes back into the fold and doesn't live up to expectations it will be a downhill slide. If he fails to regain full fitness - what then?
Danny Rowe has to either come back fully fit showing he is capable of playing 90 minutes with regularity or make a big decision about his future with his health in mind.
George Cooper brings the promise of being a very good player at this level but, at this stage, that is only promise. To win a regular starting spot he has to get fully fit. We've only managed to sign him because we are prepared to show patience in him finding a level of fitness he hasn't been capable of for the last couple of years.
Gyasi is a young'un who has never played for a Club at even our level in the NL. He's one for the future with a lot to learn. How quickly he starts challenging for a starting berth depends on how quickly he learns what is required.
So, at this stage, I can see that Asante should be part of our plans. Certainly, for the first half of the season.
