I’d be starting King somewhere. Not seen Sheckleford kick a ball yet.

I don't think King is a good enough defender to play in the back 4 of a side in PC's preferred formation. He could improve that side of his game somehow but my understanding is that the new lad is more of an old school right back.

No he wants an attacking RB which isnt old school. He wants a RB who can defend like a proper RB but can also attack/overlap down the flank. King can't do the proper RB bit imo. He isn't a good RWB. He is best used as an attacking right sided player.

Old school in the sense he can defend. King can't. Miller can't.

I might be wrong but didn't King used to play left wing for Halifax? Sort of an inside forward cutting inside which would help in the Cook system of the 3 behind trading positions throughout the game

King is very frustrating.

He cannot defend for toffee. He is not capable of stopping a cross, gets caught out of position time and time again but you cannot deny his productivity with assists and goals.

There’s a player there but I’m not exactly sure where he fits in, if I’m honest.

His major downfall though is his discipline. He almost goes out of his way to pick up a booking and if we’re dealing with fine margains, this could go against him.

Started as an attacking midfielder, unsure whether this mean in the hole as a 10 or a bit wider, they then converted him to wing back. Plenty of people seem to think he’ll be better played further forward as a winger rather than a winger/full back, I don’t.

I'm with you. In PC's 4-2-3-1 he's not going to get near the '3' without major injury issues again. We already have half a dozen competing for places. His best hope is at RB but being unable to defend effectively is rather a drawback.

Gonna have a go

Loach/New GK
Sheckleford Cook Grimes Horton
Oldaker Banks
King Clarke Cooper
Tshimanga

Wiliams, Gyasi, Khan, Clements, Quigley

Pace comes from full backs, technical playmakers behind Kabby and Rowe's place depends on his health. If he's fit you find a way to fit him in. Same with Oyeleke, if he's fit you find a way to get him in.

God that team is exciting.

I’m with you but my one reservation is can these younger players hack it against the cynical stuff in this league.
God I hate this league.

Same here, and just as importantly, will the 'quality' of officiating provide enough protection to allow us to play in the style Cooky is aiming for?

Well, Evatt took Barrow out of this league playing a very easy on the eye style. Weren't they nicknamed Barrowcelona? No reason we can't do the same surely?
We're on our way

Perhaps, but I’d like to see Sheckleford play first. King for all his faults defensively is a real goal threat both himself and via assists. I’d have him starting either at RB or RW.

Good passing and, crucially, with a lot of hard running in midfield.

Apart from collecting yellow cards for fun and being unable to defend you’re absolutely right.
