Crap result after a decent start, willing to give them benefit of the doubt though as in the main we’ve been far better this season. Big spell with Masood missing now mind you.

Wonder who will replace him as captain in the t20 side.

They strolled the 342.. That's 8 points thrown away and a major blow to our promotion hopes.

I don't know if Arthur had any say in the decision not to enforce the follow on but I agree with what he said, "If you want to win anything, you have to learn how not to lose." a lesson Derbyshire have learned the hard way today.

It was inconceivable they could lose that game unless they could contrive a losing scenario, which they did. It was very poor game management.

Godleman needs to explain his incompetence to the chairman and consideration given to his role as captain.

I’d be amazed as coach if Arthur didn’t have a major say in the decision. It’s not a decision that would have been solely by godleman

Me too John but I would hope it would be along the lines of, "I would do this" or "Have you thought of doing that?" because at the end of the day "You're the Captain".

Very poor decision not to enforce the follow on. Put them back in and your more in control of the result as if they bat well second innings you can at least play for the draw and definitely not lose!

Micky Arthur's comments after the game suggested they didnt think they could put the bowlers out there again. He's said a couple were carrying slight injuries etc. Its annoying to come out with the loss and maybe its me being a bowler and knowing what hard work it can be i can understand the decision.

Sorry for missed placed finger causing red spot.

I agree with you, I think they were over thinking things and probably miss read the way the wicket(pitch) would/didn't deteriorate

We wouldn't have lost if we'd put them back in that's for sure. Nor would be if we'd cracked on with the bat when we had another go. Another 20 runs and they'd not havbe got them.

Results tonight mean Derbyshire qualify for the T20 QFs. Win on Sunday and a home QF is a possibility.

I liked the look of fast bowler Malik yesterday. Ran in like an express train. Now if we could sign him as an overseas player sometime.......wow.

I watched my very first T20 last night, a group of us from work walked across the road to take in the game between the Falcons and India.

Got to say I really enjoyed it. We were surrounded by fanatical Indian fans and the banter was brilliant. I’m sure it won’t be my last T20 game.

If we win and get a home tie, with the Buble concert at Derby next Saturday, I wonder if the plan B might be to play at Queen Park on Saturday afternoon. Suspect they’ll be wanting to get setting up Wednesday onwards so it couldn’t be at Derby anytime afterwards.

Unfortunately I think because of TV requirements for one the idea of playing in the Park is a no go and we could have to play our home match if we qualify away from home

Logistically it's more difficult and the timescales are the likely killer, but it wouldn't be impossible at all. I remember seeing Derbyshire televised at Jesmond against Durham as a kid before they were a first class county.

I watched a bit of the Essex v Glamorgan game last night and Dominic Cork mentioned the clash of the Buble gig. Surely we just arrange the game on a convenient afternoon/evening outside of the date of the concert? It was also apparent that he didn’t know that results the previous evening meant Derbyshire had already qualified for the knockout phase.

Off to this afternoon’s game now and hopefully another win.
The greatest miscarriage of justice since my case against the producers of the Never Ending Story

Leicestershire had two points deducted so that’s their chances done.

We might chase them, who knows, but we’ve let Durham get too many.

Why hasn’t Scrimshaw got a slower ball? Massive part of a T20 bowler’s armoury.

Great chase. Hopefully means we avoid a trip to Surrey which would have happened had we finished 4th.
