for anyone who knows more about cricket than me, which is probably 99% of the worlds population, why does rashid not play in the test team, i've been watching the ashes and now these 1 day games, he seems extremely good, i'm not a cricket person so admit to knowing nothing but i'd have thought a spin bowler could play in both formats without exerting too much strain?

He's got a shoulder problem that sustained periods of bowling exacerbates. He's ok for the short spells in 1 dayers and 4 overs in T20. Plus he doesn't play red ball cricket for Yorkshire either. Leg Spin uses the shoulder more than Off Spin which is more from the wrist & fingers. Off Spin isn't exactly harmless either, my uncle's fingers are a right mess.

thank you, what a shame, as he (for me) seems an absolute winner, something that test team could do with.

Cracking bowler, only just getting the recognition he deserves, again probably due to retiring from red ball cricket helping his fitness.

More likely he can earn significantly more money playing white ball rather than red ball cricket.

His test record when he has played isn’t great I don’t think.

Outstanding bowling from Yorkshire at the end. I’m hoping for a Yorkshire v Derbyshire final. I’m hoping for finals day we can have some of our A star players back. I somehow doubt it though.

Not sure how long you were waiting but I don’t think it will have been very long! So many good performances over the four tests so far.

Looking forward to Trent Bridge on Sunday!
