Danny Webb had dealt with the intitial shock of Rowe's departure. He had then continued in a temporary role to get 8 points in the 4 matches he managed. The transfer deadline was still weeks away at this point so any appointee would have chance to assess the squad and come armed with any attended transfer targets. Any manager interviewed would have been watching the team and would be able to bring his thoughts to the table for discussion.

At this point Danny Webb stepped in and told Cook of the best NL talent to sign. We got Whelan. 2 other players messed us around. If one was Sbarra it would suit rivals Solihull to string us along abdlet us down at the last minute when there was no time to find an alternative.

So,

As much reported on BT we went into the play offs with the third worse form in the NL ( it it wasn’t for the lucky win against Dover it’s the second worst)

A slight spark against Halifax and reverted to type yesterday

And we’re all happy it seems….

No debates, no arguments however biased you are that's 8 first team picks out

What other side can maintain a promotion/play off push with these players available week in week out. We actually played quite well yesterday and the last two games have given me real confidence for next season. If the season had finished at Torquay I would have been deflated but now the dust has settled and you can look at things objectively we did as well as we could be expected.

Yesterday we still had chances and actually played well again just lacked that bit of quality (see list above)

BTW you did not come back to me about the arrogant pr##k using the pitch 3 times a week when told not to.. Looked a lot better since he has left don't you think ?

Under James Rowe, Town played Aldershot, Kings Lynn and Barnet twice, amassing 16 points from 18 against teams currently in the bottom 6. We didn't face Stockport or Notts. So 22 + 3 - 2 = 23 games.

I thought at the time, and still do, that our ppg was skewed, and maybe not sustainable. I also think get points in the bag against whoever you're playing. Take advantage of the easier games as you can sometimes get a lead that you can hold on to, and results impacts confidence.
All I'm saying is that after Aldershot (h) game I was, say, 40:60 regards finishing top.

We had a good run of relatively good results against teams who were struggling and our main rivals had games changed because of their and our cup runs.

Second half of the season without JR and many influential players we then had fixtures against top teams who had strengthened and others like Grimsby, Southend, Halifax,Solihull , Dagenham who hit a good vein of form which we could not match because of continued injuries not to mention stupid red card and rank bad reffing decisions like Weston red. All at a time when we were struggling.

Points per game cannot be thrown at Cook when he was dealt the hand he got in his first week in charge.
God I hate this league.
