I’m not defending Rowe’s character but I’d suggest he’s far from alone with his treatment of players.
I don’t think I’ve read an ex-players autobiography yet where they don’t give an account of a spell in their career where they are frozen out, unwanted, chucked in with the youth team to train and so on by a particular manager.
I think it’s clear to see from his interviews that when things aren’t going to plan, Rowe had a tendency to be a bit spiky and abrasive in his response. This would no doubt be passed onto the players but I suppose that all boils down to whether he oversteps the mark with them.
Surely he couldn’t be worse than chucking hairdryers about or throwing stray boots about at players like Fergie?
