Regardless of who was up front, the service yesterday was woeful. If there was a game plan to get the ball to Quigley then no one seemed to either know what it was nor have the ability to carry it out.

It was even mentioned by the commentators the Quigley was trying to get involved in the game , going long, wide, coming short. Most of the time we over hit, under hit or had no control over where we were hoofing it.

I dont think his performance yesterday was entirely down to Quigley himself. We didn’t play that well to him against Aldershot, and we’re the same when Denton is in the side.

I dont think Quigley is a bad player, I believe he’s a better version of Denton. did we need that ? No, we need replacements in midfield.

Yes I was there…. As I have been for most of the games this season. He didn’t do well last week and he didn’t do well tonight. Fact. And what concerns me most is that Asante was dropped tonight for him and played in a bizarre position last week. Please tell me why I’m wrong, assuming you were there.

By the way great win tonight and quality goal and support

Was Asante dropped ? Yes he didn't start but that was more down to the failed 3 game plan against Shotts. They are obviously giving Quigley game time to get him up to our standards and Asanti is not yet the player we saw when he joined. He's still getting fitness in his body. Webb obviously was wanting to negate the big strong lads in that Eastleigh team and looked as though they knew Quigley would need replacing on 60 minutes. God for bid we hold Quigley to come on and replace Asanti if we need goals towards the end of a game to get sommat out of it.
God I hate this league.

Maybe Quigley came in before the creative midfielder we are so desperate for. No disrespect to our current players but they're different to what Clarke offered. All about timing? We'll never know but it seems plausible to me.

Probably. We are desperately missing Oyeleke.

I know what people are saying about Clarke, but let’s be honest he has been out for 90% of the season and we were still top.

We played a 4 in midfield with Oyeleke and Weston at the base, with Kellerman/Khan & Mandeville sat behind Tshimanga. That worked, it wasn’t the prettiest at times but it was a lot better than the current system.

In my opinion, if we are now going for 2 up top and 3 in the middle (like the start of the season) then that 3 has to have Weston And Oyeleke in it. Otherwise our midfield is non existent and we resort to hoof ball.

I couldn't understand the signing with Denton returning so assumed Denton's future here was finished and he would potentially be loaned out in the meantime. I too would prefer to have seen the funds being spent on a midfielder.

I can't comment on the Aldershot game but Quigley wasn't great today. As pointed out though the service wasn't great and if a striker doesn't get the service he'll struggle to shine. Tshimanga struggled to be effective today for the same reason.

It can take time to adapt to a new team and the current managerial issue isn't helpful for anyone. It is disappointing to hear the reaction after less than 2 games though. Nothing wrong with commenting on underperformance but lets give him a chance before we decide he's garbage/rubbish/not good enough etc.

The only reason I can see why Quigley was signed, was if we couldn't play through packed lines, we'd bring him and Denton on for the last 15-20 and start pinging it into the box, hoping they'll either head one in or we'll pounce on the second balls. Beyond that, I've got no idea why he was signed; especially, for a substantial fee....

Absolutely correct; some of the comments about Quigley are just insulting and unfair after only two games. I wonder what criticism we might have heard directed at Kabongo if he had only played the last two games for us? I can hear W and his followers now - 'What a waste of money - did nothing for the whole game and never looked like scoring'. How about judging Quigley when he's come on or started in five or six games?

Kabongo at least looks and moves like a footballer regardless of his output. Major difference.

I personally am crossing my fingers that Kabongo moves on tomorrow for a very large fee. Best for everybody.

I'm definitely not. How is that going to enhance our promotion chances?

Here it is. We’ve found the worst post ever on this forum and there was a huge amount of competition.

You’re the master of comparing apples to oranges. Tshimanga scored 20 goals in consecutive seasons for Borehamwood. What’s Quigley’s record like?

For one of our most esteemed and respected posters (just above Warfey) it's an odd one. I'm waiting for the follow up to clear it up so it all makes sense.

How is selling the most prolific goal getter in the division best for everybody? There is absolutely no guarantee we could replace him and we would be far better off keeping him as his goals equal our best chances of promotion!

I for one am keeping my fingers crossed he is still a town player come Tuesday.

Did he have 16 previous clubs and not one single positive comment from the fans of those clubs about him?

Don't think anyone's said we don't need a physical option.

And when Quigley signed no one could be blamed for thinking he was, rightly or wrongly, a Denton replacement.

But what's left folk scratching their heads is breaking up a proven system to start him, and Denton's availability.

Okay, TD's only just back from a year out - but does Webb seriously think Quigley's more of a threat than Asante? Honestly? That route one will be more successful than what's worked for a year or more?

The Jason Lee comparisons are more than vaild. He had a reasonable record before and after his Saltergate stint, but it just wasn't the right fit for either party at the time...
