What if Paul Cook returns.

Possibly assisted by, say, Gaz Roberts, perhaps.

Based upon nowt more than their past here and elsewhere, of course.

Well we know PC prefers four-two-three-one. He said as much in his recent interview, infact. So how would our current squad fit into that?

Loach.

Perm any CB pairing from six.

Gotta be Whittle LB and King RB.

Oyeleke and Weston doing the Morsey and Ryan thing.

In front of them Miller, Mandeville and an Asante given a free role.

All headed by Tshimanga, of course.

Discuss...

PS: think there's more than enough talent in the squad to get us up, though I'd like to see a Clarke replacement given the severity of his injury...

I did mine as we might appear under Cook's eye a few days ago on the manager thread. Let me find it.

Loach

King
Williams
Croll
Whittle

Weston
Oyeleke

Mandeville
Khan
Kellerman

Tshimanga

I think Cook would like Maguire.

I’d also like to see Jimmy Ryan back here on a short term contract deal too to add a bit of strength to the midfield lineup.

IMO the remaining home games will decide if we go up automatically or have to settle for a playoff place. Cook’s philosophy of attacking especially at home could be just what we need.

Wouldn't Maguire have been in the youth/academy squad when Cook was here so he'd have known about him anyway?

Would maguire (and even croll) work in the morsy role? Both like to work the ball out from the back and dont tend to lump it forward
Here we go again!

Maguire and Beesley was officially promoted the summer that cook left I think. You’d assume they had already been training with the first team anyway though so yes I suppose so! Oyeleke and Croll in defensive midfield so he can have the left foot right foot balance he likes, this is fantasy stuff.

Maguire's nowhere near mobile enough.

Would we have dropped so many last minute points under Cook?

If Jimmy isn't playing at all you have to assume he doesn't want to.

No mate, I think we would have comfortably beat Torquay, Bromley, Aldershot at home, and possibly Altrincham too. I also think we would have won away at Wrexham and Dover.

14 extra points, that would have set us well on the way to a comfortable championship win.

Does Cook still play 4-2-3-1? Thought he’d changed to wing backs

Jeez, he’d get steamrolled (Ryan)

Cook would be a complete disaster

A team full of highly paid had beens on 3 year contracts

Why on earth would 'Cook be a complete disaster'? There's no basis for that comment at all unless you know more than you're letting on.

Maguire's choice was the most baffling choice of the day, even more than playing Asanti in the 3 up top.
He certainly wasn't a last resort choice.
God I hate this league.

Or is aware of his limitations after a decent enough career, maybe time has caught up with him and he doesn’t want to struggle to play at a certain level

I severely doubt it's the latter.
