Having skipped through all the posts, I think only one person has noted the 'unacceptable' statement in the post match interview about the pitch preparation.
That comment has the potential to upset everybody from the groundsman to the Board and, to me, has to be the reason for the suspension.

The groundsman for needing help with boiling water; the Board for agreeing a naff contract with Sheffield United.

On that, JR has every reason to 'upset' all who contributed to the fiasco. He's a perfectionist. If it were me I'd be making the same criticisms, whether it be to the assistant groundsman or to Crooty. My guess is that he's been so wound up that he's got himself into inappropriate behaviour and bullying territory.

Foul and abusive language between playing squad and bench happens in all matches and would never result in a complaint.

It was the previous board, well Carson, that agreed the contract though

You said he had been sacked yesterday?

I did indeed as that was what I was told by someone I trust.

Yep, a minor point if there was a major argument where it is pointed out that somebody at Board level should be anticipating the problem, pulling their finger out, and changing it.

Hee hee. that man will never go away.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

No chance. If that upset the board it would be no more than a verbal warning
I'd like to see them trying to defend suspension/dismissal at a tribunal with that.

It might be the groundsman or somebody else that got the fusillade.

I thought he was being very diplomatic saying the pitch was unacceptable.
Can imagine him confronting the Board later about it and using colourful language. That being a reason for suspension...doubtful.
They chose him and would need to be a serious reason to suspend him.

Maybe JR was critical of the pitch and maybe the contractor got both barrels, maybe the contractor replied suggesting he not have the full squad train on it 3 times a week?

Maybe following the state of the pitch Saturday, JR took matters in to his own hands an that's not gone down well?

FWIW I don't think anyone has 'lamped' anyone else....

The last line is illuminating. Maybe it’ll grow from that!

When you think about it, it really is preposterous that a manager should turn up before an important game to find hot water being applied to the pitch.
Pitch management, with the heroic goal of presenting an optimum surface for our team to perform on at all times, should not be the Team Manager's responsibility. It would be interesting to be told who the Groundsman reports to.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

I think we can all agree on one thing and that is that the matter needs clearing up one way or the other, because this situation of not knowing will only make things worse

My worry is this drags into the weekend, we end up without a manager for next week and players hand in transfer requests to leave.

Chill out Gordon, we’re still top of the league and if he goes we’ll obviously appoint somebody else. We’re not going to have a mass exodus in January.

I would have thought a fit young player was capable of "lamping" someone back....Maybe theres other folk who for whatever reason cant.
I suppose bullying can be verbal as well as physical?,more likely to be a problem than exchanging heated views about a football match or a pitch?
Is it a knee jerk reaction or as the result of long running issues? We may never know.
Under Brown we were winning and all willing to ignore the elephant in the room, now top of the league again are the board willing to turn a blind eye to allegations?
It appears not.Never a dull moment following Town, while handing our rivals a stick to beat us with.
Lets hope we have the last laugh.

I hope so, but you do worry the board get cold feet, a la Dave Allen under Cook and decide to cash in.

Someone said the team trains nowadays on the pitch- if so he’s the bleedin manager so he needed to have stopped that straight away - we have moved on professionally from the dark Carson days of sheer amateurism

Thought the same when I heard the news. Also thought it was a bit questionable for him to say it when I was listening to the interview, not that I don't agree with him.

Give over, JR might be suspended but he'll have imput on who plays. Why would players put transfer requests in and jeopardise win bonuses which I'd suggest are worth a pretty penny.
God I hate this league.
