I'm sure it would make a few bob for the trust as well over time. Seems to have got the backing of the council, just got planning permission to sort.

sod all else for the local kids and youth down there and it is supposed to be for the community
Not sure about nighttime use though as will be lots of light pollution and security issues
Not much use in the winter if it's not floodlit

Already have floodlights during early dark nights for the skate park so can't see that being an issue .

Quite frankly - this needs doing all around town. Lots of grass and derisory provision for larger, all weather pitches. Great idea, the trust. Well done.

I heard the ones at QP have been badly vandalised. We play every Thursday night either at Hasland school or Dronfield and have been trying to move our booking but apparently the pitches are out of use.

By the kids getting on when they can, they had burnt it in places, but hey, they've nothing else to do, so let em on....
Ps.. which would be great, if they treat it accordingly.

This is what happened when we had an artificial wicket installed on our cricket ground at Sharley Park years ago. Had been in about 6 weeks before someone melted a crisp packet into it right in the way at one end. Ended up having to have it patched so it could be used.

The dronfield pitch on Gosforth is pretty decent. Good idea this if utilised properly. From living near the area you do get a few undesirables in the area but it's the same everywhere at the minute.

I live near the one at Brookfield School and often walk the dog up on the fields around the school. The 3G pitch is used most nights, i occasionally play on a Wednesday night on there and all three sections are normally booked out fully for the session prior to us, our hour and the one after.

Well I'm going to take credit for the idea.
Saturday someone mentioned a supporters bar, is this all going to be en-compassed in the development maybe.

We must learn from that and beef up security access then.

Not been on this area since my cricketing days but it looks from Google Maps to be a major community asset - 2 full pitches, 3 mini pitches, 2 5 a side pitches, Toddlers' playground, fitness area, basketball court. Is that a cafe next to the Toddlers playground?
In't the thought of us having a trusted Architect on the CFC Board reassuring eh! I'm absolutely confident that this will be done properly, and I've not said that for over 5 years.
I'm pretty sure my Over 60's 5 aside group will be very interested. Just need good parking, a good playing surface, and no stress getting on at the allotted time. A cafe and changing facilities would I think also be welcome.

We used it as our home pitch for our Sunday league team for years and the grass pitches were decent and the changing facilities were really good. There wasnt a cafe at that time but there may be now and the car park was a decent enough side although could get busy if all three pitches were in use, there was a third behind where the fire station was for a while, and also a 7 a side junior pitch was in use. The only time the pitches could get bad was if it was wet around Bonfire night and it got churned up from people visiting for the council display they used to have on there.

I see the Aquarius is still tagged on Google Maps as 'CFC Village'. Anybody got any updates? It would be nice to get that back.
I'm told a huge part of Allen's disillusionment with his CFC dream was that he was refused planning permission to turn the Aquarius into a Casino. Might be just gossip though.

Me mum told the wife they're doing some building work on the Aquarius as the gym closed during lockdown (she lives on the street behind the site).
Dont know any more than that though.
It would make a cracking sports bar........

Anything on the lines of FYLDE WOULD BE FANTASTIC and would fit in with the general developement of The Glass Yard.
May be a Travelodge above would provide an appropriate build partner, just throwing ideas about anyone else with a view.
