I just really dont rate Dernbach and never did. Despite being talked up all the time as some sort of England bowler with all these variations he get next to no wickets and his economy rates in limited overs cricket were awful. He got caught up in his own hype and the fact he wasnt actually a decent fast bowler got lost in bowling variations all the time which rarely worked. Pretty sure had he played at a less fashionable county he wouldnt have played much, if any, international cricket.

'Less fashionable side '

During the latest ODI v Sri Lanka, Atherton on commentary commented that Root and Morgan had equalled the record 3rd wicket partnership v Sri Lanka set by Lamb and Barnett in '88 and Barnett made (alot! I can't remember) he then pointed out Kim was never selected again. When questioned why by the co commentator there was a pregnant pause. Just tell the truth Athers, he played for Derbyshire.

A new ODI and T20nsquad now required for the series against Pakistan starting on thursday after 3 members of the squad and 4 backroom staff tested positive for covid

The rest of the squad deemed close contacts and have to self isolate

Just wonder if Critchley played for any other county but Derbyshire he might have had a chance of being selected in a new squad being announced later today?

Already announced Ben Stokes will captain the new squad

Just shows what can happen even when the group was supposed to be in a bubble

Ben Duckett called up so he retires on 69* against Derbyshire and a new lad replaces him. Critchley nowhere to be seen. Not many from outside what you'd call the main counties :-

Ben Stokes (Durham, captain)
Jake Ball (Nottinghamshire)
Danny Briggs (Warwickshire)
Brydon Carse (Durham)
Zak Crawley (Kent)
Ben Duckett (Nottinghamshire)
Lewis Gregory (Somerset)
Tom Helm (Middlesex)
Will Jacks (Surrey)
Dan Lawrence (Essex)
Saqib Mahmood (Lancashire)
Dawid Malan (Yorkshire)
Craig Overton (Somerset)
Matt Parkinson (Lancashire)
David Payne (Gloucestershire)
Phil Salt (Sussex)
John Simpson (Middlesex)
James Vince (Hampshire)

Yes in 1973. The year we met up in Birmingham and travelled down to Plymouth to watch Town. The batting was appalling. I remember Medicine Head were in the charts.

Marvellous.....

@ECB_cricket · 34s
Derbyshire's @CountyChamp match against Essex at Derby has been abandoned following a positive Covid test within their playing squad.

Well we've ended up with a draw from the Essex game but also ended up with our remaining T20 games being cancelled and the group now being done on points per game average. Apparently the ECB have decided that with 6 injured and 14 isolating we cant field a side that is strong enough to protect the integrity of the competition....you wonder how we've not had that happen before with some of the crap we've rolled out!

If we played people off the street who turned up with some kit and said they could play I dont think the results in the two cancelled matches would not have been any different lol

A bit harsh probably but those who were present at some of the home t20 matches that have been played will know what I am trying to say

this match was always in the fixture list to be played in the Park as a stand alone match after the 4 day Championship match against Essex and the T20 match against the Puddings which had to be switched to Derby because of the covid regulations

Lets hope the 50 over match gets the go ahead to be played in the park the day after the Spireites away win at Aldershot on the opening day of the season

Realised that this stupid Hundred thing is happening at the same time as the 50 over games so whilst we wont have Reece i suspect (Would have been Madsen as well if he wasnt injured) but Yorkshire will be missing a few i would have thought.

Not sure if players can feature for counties whilst also part of Hundred squads but Yorkshire have the 9 players involved that would nearly make a decent side on their own!

Harry Brook, Adam Lyth, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Jordan Thompson, David Willey, Matthew Fisher, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow

We are also missing du Plooy who was a recent wildcard signing for the Welsh team I think

So he is and also appears Critchley is in there. I was pondering going but not sure i'll bother now. Saw earlier we'd signed some lad who plays for Sandiacre and turned out in the seconds to a contract for the 50 over games presumably to replace Critchley.
