Improved contract? He's been here 3 months and done the job he's paid to do. Let's have the conversation if and when we get promoted.

Especially when one reads the clubs financial report out today.
Words to the effect that the Directors are confident they can halve the wage bill.

I agree but am worried about the timing of this story.

Walking out on Gloucester after a few months to come here then similar to go to Colchester. Nah he's got more about him that's that.

If he works a miracle this season & gets us promoted, you can guarantee he'll get offered a 5 year contract (lessons learnt from the Cook debacle)
We have fans in charge of us now & I think JR loves it here & loves the project

I think he's very ambitious, as Cook was, and I think his time here will end in the same sort of way, contract or no. I note that, despite all the paper talk, the Cowleys weren't sufficiently well-regarded enough to get a job somewhere away from Lincoln until they won back-to-back promotions, though. Rowe will move on when it suits him, but other clubs will wait to see if he wins something first, I <strike>think</strike>. hope.

I assume you are being sarcastic, but he is ambitious and ruthless but I’d hope he’d learn to walk before running

There is certainly a problem brewing here in my opinion, much in the same way as it did with Cook. The manager's wants and ambitions versus the financial capability of the club.

You picked that up, and yes I'd hope he did learn that, and of course a promotion on the CV would add to job opportunities and wage demands. And hopefully clubs watched with interest rather than diving in. Personally I can't get away from inside info again. Has the swamp been truely drained, I don't think it as.

Actually I think that is complete bull. What other manager would be allowed 13 signings under our circumstances. These L2 clubs will have to have very very deep pockets to satisfy him.

It may become a problem once he has actually achieved something

Exactly. Certainly can’t fault the financial backing given to the manager. A large number on here were hitting the panic button a couple of weeks ago at the rate we were spending. Can’t have it both ways and turn it back around now and say they aren’t ambitious like that last lot.

I hope these rumours aren’t true, but if it is Northampton or Colchester Rowe would take one look around and see we are bigger than both and see sense I’d like to think.

You have misunderstood my point.

We backed Cook and couldn't afford to, the same is happening with Rowe in my opinion.

Obviously I did

In that case we shouldn’t worry. We have been told this expenditure is in fact a method to cut the wage bill next season. We can assume they Rowe is part of this master plan because he has implemented it

Don't know, I've always assumed Rowe's agent is his Dad (Ipswich based).

The reporter is the Mail's North West Football one.

When Phil Walker was the expert summariser he intimated that Kev Davis is his agent. Perhaps he was just putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5 due to Kev's involvement in the interview.

I think the Board has a duty to take this seriously. A much more lucrative incentive based contract can't be too difficult to envisage or cost out. I'm not too worried though. JR has a vast knowledge of the NL and I'd bet he can name every player who could play in L2. It's a completely different kettle of fish acquiring knowledge of the rest of the pyramid.
