I don't know about you, but I was right behind that goal. There is no excuse for the behaviour of our supporters, which was unacceptable (but NOT racist as was later suggested). Equally, there is no excuse for Ashmore's behaviour; I've played and watched football for over 60 years in places including 1950's Glasgow, and London in the 60's and 70's, and I've never seen a more blatant and persistent attempt by a player to deliberately antagonise opposition fans. All those involved were complete idiots, and none of them, including Ashmore, should be able to use their childhood experiences as an excuse.

I highly doubt CPS was in the ground so probably take much of what he says with a dangerously largely pinch of salt.

Ashmore was being *** all game and has form for it. He wasn't racially abused or pushed over despite what the media reported, then backtracked on. If you dish it out on the scale he does then you have to expect a bit back. It went too far but for him to default to the race card to get some attention makes him pretty low down on the humanity spectrum.

He would have got some hammer tonight, and every bit of it would have been deserved.

The bit I can’t forgive is playing the race card when there was no actual racism involved
