I’m for controlled migration, I’m against their wanton slaughter lol. Call me Ian but I think there’s probably some middle ground.

I was going to comment about how it seems weird that he’s willing to extend sympathy to a rich, powerful white man on his 34th child (that’s exaggeration again Mark) but not poor, brown migrants but thought better to leave it alone.

Jeez he’s running the country, he nearly died, his pregnant wife had the virus and she’s now had a baby

Running a country requires someone who is willing to sacrifice everything to make sure the job get's done. You are responsible for 65 million people, not just your own family.

His wife had Covid symptoms, not the full blown virus. Hundreds of thousands have contacted this illness yet their husbands, wives, sons, daughters (a lot on minimum wage and not a cushy PM's salary) have continued going to work to keep the country running in a time of crisis, why should he be different?. He's welcomed a new healthy baby into his family today who will be there when this crisis is over, 650 families yesterday have to deal with the news that people they love won't be there when this crisis is over.

If, and I stress if as it's not been confirmed yet, he takes paternity leave then he should be removed from office. He's got a whole lifetime to spend with his kid, thousands more are not going to get that privilege if the countries leader is nowhere to be seen when these moments are precisely what they should be here for.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything!

Gonna give Bozo some slack on this one. Think a bloke has every right to time off when his missus has just birthed.

Plenty of opportunity to discuss why family value spouting churchgoers turn blind eyes to an unmarried fifty five year old having the latest of an unspecified number of kids with a much younger woman on other days.

Whilst we also ponder if they'd be equally joyful were it an unemployed couple from a council estate...

These are uncharted times. That little boy is going to have a dad when this is over. What about the little one of that Nurse who died from Covid just after having a c-section? That baby is never going to know their mum. His job is to run the country and see it through times of great need, is this not a time of great need? How many more parents are not going to be going home to their children before this is over? At least he can.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything!

I doubt for one minute he will take paternity leave - of the type where he goes home, forgets work and gets on with other life. The same as he was still working when first in hospital which may be one of reasons he got worse.

As for cushy PMs salary, would you do that job for that salary? I wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole. Now the millions for writing my memoirs after would be another matter...

What's going to happen in a cpl of months as Europe is continuing to ease the various stages of lockdown and hopefully has the virus under some sort of control but it's running rampage through parts of Africa, particularly the crowded areas with poor or maybe non exsistant medical facilities and maybe more try to get to Europe being carriers of the disease. It could be carnage.

Don’t recall seeing that, can you provide a link?

I take it you haven't been watching the daily press conferences.

Umpteen newspaper articles with their speculation about what the lockdown plan could be, guesses at timings. Articles on other countries easing their restrictions, but barely mentioning that their lockdown and circumstances are different to ours. Articles with the headline X Company 'is reopening it's stores' (four of hundreds)...

Relentless from the second week of lockdown, and building daily.

Looks like we should be thankful Cummings was at the SAGE meetings

Boris Johnson’s most powerful political aide pressed the U.K.’s independent scientific advisers to recommend lockdown measures in an effort to stop the spread of coronavirus, according to people familiar with the matter.

The government has confirmed that Dominic Cummings was an observer at some meetings of its Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE), the secretive body which gives specialized advice to ministers on responding to the pandemic.

According to two people involved, Cummings played far more than a bystander’s role at a crucial SAGE meeting on March 18, as the panel discussed social distancing options to tackle the Covid-19 outbreak.

Speaking on condition of anonymity because the meetings are private, the people said Cummings asked why a lockdown was not being imposed sooner, swayed the discussion toward faster action, and made clear he thought pubs and restaurants should be closed within two days. They then were.

From Bloomberg btw

After they put him in his place when they informed him that his herd immunity idea would cost 500000 lives. Made him dump his let the old people die idea too. Probably convinced him that eugenics was not good too. No wonder you like him. He more than likely would like to see people die in boats. He's just as vile as you

I read £800k in the New European dated 2/12/19. Of which a chunk could have been his Telegraph (?) column which I think he has given up. Cant find a breakdown of where it comes from though as I would have thought as PM he would be barred from much working income so it could be royalties from previous work or property income.

Imagine what the tax is on that....

Well here's a fact - revised figures show we've the third worst fatality rates in the world.

And here's another fact: some have pretty much predicted that from the first page of this thread whilst others accused them of politicising it. Or diverted towards China. Or said it'd be worth fifty thousand deaths to stop Liverpool winning the title. Or defended the government. Or Cummins. Or a eugenisist. Or suggested the Germans were lying.

Or think once again vilifying drowning migrants is more important...
