surprised yours have been closed, ours has been open throughout but delivery only. But agree, its biting hard now and money is running out, and so people will get creative to justify opening. Like people are finding excuses to bend the rules more on exercise - just been watching a piece on surfers in Cornwall and some kayakers having to be rescued by the lifeboat - and what the knock on effect is to potential spread. Selfish ********

PS Loundsley Green was nearest to me when I lived up there, but I always went to Chatsworth Fish Bar. Those were the days. Popeyes a bit further down star of sall for pizza and burgers and star of sall for indian (we knew the guys down there)

Given the current front line staff, i.e. Medical workers, shop workers, lorry drivers etc etc, are folk who don't usually earn a fortune then why shouldn't they make use of their extra income and lack of other spending avenues.
Don't judge other people's finances and spending habits, when for once, even given the circumstances, those usually watching the pennies might be able to enjoy their incomes a bit more than normal!

Chips shops and takeaways were never required to close in the first place. Mcdonalds will reopen for drive thru and takeaway in a few weeks I'm sure.

They are struggling with social distancing for staff in the kitchens, and until they find a way round that they cannot open.

Social distancing in many forms of work is simply not viable..for example do you think all those NIghtingale hospitals were built with teams of workers keeping 2m apart at all times...not a chance. Heavy industry, construction and many forms of manual labour require people to work together..the HSE recognise this and new guidelines will be issued soon regarding people working in close proximity. It reminds me of the simpering John Motson, when commenting on the latest score on football matches on the BBC would say.."and those just coming in from the office the score is".. Jesus some jobs, infact probably many of the most important manual ones cannot be done with social distancing, Those in the real world know this, the office fraternity don't.

I've always respected your posts and views but on this occasion I think you're wrong. Many front line, low paid workers are actually enjoying a financial boost in the current crisis, due to them being needed on the front line as it were, and I for one don't begrudge them spending on a few luxuries they might not be otherwise able to afford.

Go to any hospital, supermarket, pharmacy (even Westminster Bridge) to see that social distancing is not happening in lots of places.

I think I started by saying it might be people in supermarkets spending their overtime?

There are many reasons why people might feel they have extra money to spend. Equally there are many who are worrying about how long their job will last and how they will survive the next few months....

Front line worker being a nurse? or a lorry driver? or a supermarket worker?

I know all three and I would say 3/3 pay nursery fees, 1 of 3 has a second job, all three pay travel costs.

But I dont believe that its only front line workers on overtime buying these things. I imagine a bunch are being bought by people who arent getting a holiday overseas, and some being bought by people who are bored at home....

First weekend was worst and prompted Vicky Park to close for a couple of weeks but reopened and very quiet all over.

Worst is Knightsbridge area which still has the parade of overpriced super cars drag racing or slowly driving up and down by kids spending daddy’s millions.

Yep, same for B & Q.
I missed the reporting of the Hancock interview when he was asked the specific question. B & Q, and presumably lots of other similar stores, were never instructed to close but did so anyway.

So, my nearest store is Sutton 5 miles away and I can presumably just jump in my car and buy things of a non essential nature.
