To return to the author's claims of knowing the public mood, I spoke to a mate whilst out jogging this morning (socially distant, of course). Now he's a Daily Mail reading tory voter but his first comment was 'We've been lied to'.
And for what it's worth he didn't mean the Chinese, either...
That's it then, sample of 2, must be right.... (just taking the proverbial Chris as you would...)
I think because ad revenue is based on clicks the pressure to pen a sensationalist headline to get people to click through is high. and then of course a dull story beneath will mean they dont make that mistake twice so you have to snazz up the story as well.
Or so I am told by those who work in the world of online news....
Its rubbish, hold the government to account by all means, and in a crisis like this they will make lots of mistakes, just like anyone does when doing something for the first time with no rule book to follow, so plenty to hold to account on. But lets focus on the solution first and not the bitching.
ETA - just been speaking to a good friend who is diary sec for a Labour MP in west yorkshire. He apparently asked a question today which apparently turned into a rant about how crap the govt have been - seems his twitter feed has been about 50:50 split between those saying it was good that he gave it to the govt and those who thought he should be focusing on positives and solutions - that from his own office. And I'd guess his twitter followers are more left of centre than the average taken across the country? Proves nothing but its a statistic....
