I despise Johnson.

A 'mini me' version of Trump who's spent a lifetime plumbing depths of moral bankruptcy simply for his own promotion and pleasure.

And there's a certain cynicism in political allies queueing up to sing his praises knowing no one dare challenge them.

But because we're better than that we wish him the same speedy recovery we wish everyone laying ill.

I want him and his ilk beaten at the ballot box, not a hospital bed...

It will be interesting to see the dynamic between the 'big' hitters if Johnson is incapacitated for any length of time.

Ed Miliband returns to front bench as Keir Starmer thankfully purges the remaining Corbynites, so if Labour were to return to power anytime soon I would imagine it’s not the Labour Party that the left would approve of

I like BJ, as a leader, a man who can pull people together and take them with him

Save your 'get over it's' for Corbyn's cronies. I voted against him in every leadership ballot.

I'd also remind you that his own brother and sister couldn't support the Boris Johnson capable if 'pulling people together'. Nor could the tory mp's he outsted simply for doing what he and the absurdly titled ERG did to May.

Nor could Sajid Javid, the one person he'd promised a position during the election.

You'd accept though that although you could accurately list 10 examples of his moral bankruptcy, the vast majority of the public couldn't? And, by the way, when Johnson's record is once again scrutinised, there are already those queuing up to list mistakes and questionable decisions made by Starmer when he was Director of the CPS.

This virus has exposed the vast inadequacies of our NHS and there can be no turning back on it's reformation. It was, though, an invasion and genuine mistakes get made when invasions of all kinds happen. In my opinion, the majority view is that Johnson will be judged on his reaction, rather than what went on for 10 years beforehand, and if he gets that right he'll be even more popular.

If this illness leaves him incapacitated in any sense in terms of his ability to carry on as PM, will you call for another General Election?

A general election? In the midst of an epidemic? Where the chuffin' hell has that come from, Dave?

As for the last one, I think it's universally accepted folk turned a blind eye to Johnson's moral record (remember the audience laughter when he spoke of honesty?) because of Brexit and his opponent's inadequacies. The best of a bad choice, in other words.

Agree about the NHS, though. I do think - infact I desperately hope - Covid will fundamentally alter the political landscape for years to come. No longer will the 'Taxpayers Alliance' or other millionaire funded lobby groups be able to advocate tax cuts based upon public service cuts. No longer will vital infrastructure staff be deemed expendable in pursuit of privatisation. Or xenophobic purges. Infact we may even see the nationalisation currently in effect continue for quite some time.

Imagine it; SKS facing BJ (or maybe one of those no doubt positioning themselves to replace him - just look for who gushes the most best wishes) arguing who can best replicate Clement Atlee's government...

My understanding is that on principle you think there should be a general election if a PM is permanently replaced. That was certainly your position when Johnson 'undemocratically' replaced May.
