You can go back years and not have much competition in fairness.
I really hope (I won't say pray cos I don't and won't) he gets through this for himself and his family above all never mind the absolute mess that would be left behind.
While not really being a fan of Blair, I just didn’t see him as a genuine man, a shallow man, a liar, he did take the difficult decisions to say “if you want to make things better, you need to be in power”
I think he did want to make things better, I really believe that he did, you need to appeal to the majority he was at the time the breath of fresh air that was needed. He got carried away, and fell into the trap of believing his own hype and his own invulnerability.
And you make a really really good point actually, about the mess left behind. Putting everything else aside, Boris has United his party. Were he to fall, his party and the majority he commands would fall into chaos and we really don’t need a Conservative party with such a huge majority falling into chaos. That would be really really really bad.
At least Boris has his reputation and career on the line to hold him to task (what’s most important to him after all) so there is, albeit limited restraint on the blue party. Take that away, the all the worst of the likes of Reece Mogg and his outside interests would be unleashed on the nation, and the in 4 years time all the countries illsmblamed on corona. A get out of jail free card for them to unleash another 5 years of Mogg snout in the trough.
