We're making light of this, but the more y'think about it the more sickening the timing. It was cynically designed to distract from a top civil servant resigning amidst bullying allegations and stories that the Mrs Zaghari Ratcliffe still banged up 'cos of his bungling might have corona. Not to mention Boris the Liar going AWOL whilst half the country's under water.

But then the Priti Patel previously sacked for secret meetings with foreign officials (can you imagine the screams of treachery if that'd been a Labour politician?), and probably his latest mistress/wife/fling, will just join the long list of folk 'honest' Johnson has trampled over in pursuit of self gratification...

...So, Patel cynically upsets the Permanent Secretary of the Foreign Office a couple of years ago, and then wonders why the Permanent Secretary of the Home Office distrusts her?

These are 2 guys who in all probability went to the same schools, the same university town, are both freemasons, have had the same lovers, and have a regular G and T together.

Early days, but she may well go down as the most incompetent minister for a generation (excluding Failing Grayling).

The parallels with the Trump regime grow and grow.

I sense Cummins' hand here, using ministers to create havoc (the same Cummins who had one of Javid's team frogmarched out of No10 by police whilst he went through her phone) then discarding them when they're no longer any use to him.

Just as Trump appoints lunatics of varying degrees who're then either fired amidst lurid allegations or end up in jail.

Only three months into Boris the Liars' government and we've already had the second most senior minister and a high ranking civil servant forced out.

More fool those who associate themselves with it.

PS: any similarities with CFC are the observers' own interpretation...

In other news Labour are narrowing down the choice of who will come second in 4 years time to the worst govt in history because the Momentum led NEC have no idea what middle England want and would prefer to lead an idealistic and irrelevant protest party than govern.

The fact the Boris can even get into power shows how poor the opposition is - and I am not sure the current shuffling of the deckchairs is going to change much. Remember, the only time Labour have won in 40 years was Tony Blair, who changed the name (sort of), changed the policies (definitely), appealed to a broader base - and then got the chance to bankrupt the country rather than just talk about it..

This govt, and the power Cummins has, is appalling. The fact Labour are doing nothing to stop that is worse.

Every poll indicates Starmer's well ahead - and I've already reported a return to reality even amongst former Corbyn advocates.

However there's been an attempt by the outgoing bloke's followers to misrepresent deputy leadership candidates in official circulars whilst there're still - STILL - those prepared to pretend our worst performance in almost a century was nowt to do with the leader.

This is fight to oust Militant all over again - with the futures of millions of working people on the line...

Indeed but if Starmer wins and Momentum control the NEC it will be like a PM without a majority. Pointless.....

I don’t believe labour have recognised the need for a change of direction yet so Boris can do what he likes and still win begrudgingly in most places. And that is much more important than any other news or moans...

I was a granddad at 52, that was hard enough work and I only had to babysit on a few occasions. God knows why anyone of that age would want sleepless nights and the associated joys - and imagine dropping your kid off at uni when they are 18 and you are in your 70s!

I've a good friend who became a (biological) dad for the first time in his fifties and a more doting father you could not meet.

Sometimes it's just how the cards are dealt.

However given Johnson's record in terms of partners, admitting how many kids he has and straightforward honesty the chances of him remaining loyal to mother and child seem slim.

No sympathy for her as she's old enough to make her own decisions, but the wealth this baby will be born into can never compensate for becomming a footnote in a rampant egotist's life...

I adopted a new born when I was 51. Nothing to do with midlife crisis. We just love having kids in our lives

I have 2 grandkids who live with their mum and dad - and me. I have my own floor, but the oldest comes to see me when he wants. It’s the perfect solution.
