Questions for the AGM: what attempts were there to challenge this, was there any non-takeover related haste just to 'make it go away' - possibly to avoid embarrassment to someone still at the Club, and did Carson retrieve any of the money he supposedly loaned?

I'm told the claim has now been settled and payment made

I'm past caring about how much money Carson's got, as long as he effs off.

The real significance here is whether the original Liquidator's claim of Ł144k contained any items which, if uncontested, could get CFC and any new owners into trouble in the future. It's one for the Auditor who must have seen the claim as he told Carson it was unworthy of mention in the accounts. Some one needs to ask him to categorically confirm on the record that the matter is settled.

What if, to take a hypothetical example, Sutcliffe has successfully claimed that a senior well known player was also paid by the School?

Any new owners who don't do due diligence on this may be asking for trouble. All it might take is for one of the many Town folk who lost money to be granted sight of the claim.

Yep, ta.
I was aware of that, but I thought that Looker On might have thought of a way to view the claim.

I'm told the settlement has been shared with the other interested parties but a confidentiality clause applies, however the sum paid was significantly less than that claimed

well there's a surprise, and no doubt that will satisfy any due diligence efforts.

Carson seems a bit nervous about wanting to put this to bed. A confidentiality clause won't be a sufficient cloak for the Auditor although shareholders might want to put two and two together about the need for one. The settlement sum is irrelevant. The detail of Sutcliffe's claim is what is important.

Give me the nod tomorrow Ashley if you want to take this further.

Well this thread has now been running for four years yet is still as relevant as ever.

So much for talk of lessons being learned and drawing lines under the past.

But let's revisit the questions asked in the first post.

'So if the Development Centre is nothing to do with CFC, why does the Club's official website promote both it and the new 'international' operation?'

It's since been revealed that Turner and Sucliffe's shambles was very much linked to CFC despite countless lies to the opposite.

Why does it and the players under Turner and Sutcliffe, it's two directors, sport the Club badge?'

Ditto.

Has Chesterfield Football Club in any way subsidised it?

Same again.

And if so, doesn't that represent a massive conflict of interest for Turner and Sutcliffe?

I think there was a big 'YES!!!' to that one.

Most of all, how long will the Chairman tolerate his family football club being associated with a business subject to CCJ's and media reports like this?

It seems the simple answer was 'Until pressure from fans disbelieving the lies forced his representatives into action'. And we've surely got to wonder just how much he actually knew, probably still knows about this disgrace even today?

Especially as one of those representatives has since denied knowledge of events disbelieving fans warned him about long before they emerged...

The answer is 'no'.
The settlement by Carson indicates that it subsidised Chesterfield Football Club.

Speaking of the Academy, I see Chris Turner has launched another one at Wakefield:

http://wakefieldafc.co.uk/the-academy/

Linked to Colin Broadhurst and the Kixx franchise, no mention of Liam Sutcliffe yet, though!

Launched January 9th this year, according to their twitter page.

Must be another reincarnation, this one is linked to the local Kixx franchise (which used to be the old Mini kicks which Evo abd Hird were once franchisees of locally).

It's in addition to the "1st team" an add on as opposed to a totally new thing.
Turner has been Director of Football for Wakefield AFC for at least a year, which seems to be along the lines of the trust's Football and Education BTEC, which is also close to how our academy is run. I know Turner was advertising on LinkedIn over the last few months for players.

He will count himself as self-employed, I suppose. It must run in conjunction with his job washing womens' football kits. It rather indicates how rotten the football business is, at many levels, and how easy it still is for anyone to set themselves up as some form of "talent scout" or other. The game cares nothing about the exploitation of those with more hope than ability.
It's nice to be able to Trust again.
