their player just kicked the ball away from Gerrard and then could not wait to drop to the floor its makes you want to weep
Another thunderbolt from Weston then put us back in with a chance only for 2 minutes later Coddington to crumple to the floor after kicking the ball away virtually ending what momentum we were trying to build up
It could be seen straight away that it was a serious injury when the Yeovil player nearest to him started waving his hands towards the referee to stop the match
Just a thought but could the condition of the pitch have contributed to the way Coddington slipped after kicking the ball away?
After the start to the match we had confidence virtually nil and down to 10 men for around 35 minutes I suppose losing 2-1 is a get out of jail card really
At least the match on Saturday is not for vital league points

On another note, I said a good while ago that apathy would be the final nail in the coffin of CFC, and recent attendances and depleted forum posts suggest we are (most of us) beyond caring. The opportunities have been there to make a collective stand, but aside from a few, too many have become bewildered and tired of the whole thing. In my opinion it’s too late now anyhow........
Lady Luck might shine a path to progress and stability, but that’s what it will be, luck. Without that God help CFC!

Sheridan...Wow. Now I freely admit I'm no expert in football management, but isn't it tempting fate to use all three outfield subs by early in the second half, when your goalie has already been injured in the first half?
I got a moment's pleasure from Weston's absolutely belting volley (should be goal of the season) but any hope was quickly doused by the injury to Coddington. The way we just find new and inventive ways to ensure we come out on the wrong side of the result is simply amazing and only points one way...we all know the drill.

But he did say fitness levels looked low even by non-league standards.
One other thing, though; is it true CFC legend Ian Evatt was denied entry to the lounges?

I just chatted with Ian Evatt, he wasn't refused entry, he chose not to go in, he simply went to watch the game.
P.S. It was me who gave you the red, sorry, didn't mean too!

Evans attempts a header back to the keeper from 40 yards out on a heavily saturated pitch, and bang 1 nil down inside 2 minutes!!!
Again on a heavily saturated pitch we urine about passing along the back and a pass from Buchanan puts a Gerrard in the ###### and results in a penalty, and bang it’s 2nil
Now I’m not saying Sheridan is blameless , but some of the decisions being made on the pitch by experienced players is unbelievable, schoolboy type defending and yet again the opposition find themselves not having to do much to score against us.
2 shocking injuries add to our woes tonight, just when Tootle looked a decent addition, and Coddington , both look season ending ( although it’s over now)
Baffled why he took Boden off and didn’t go 3 up top.
Bizarrely we looked better when down to 10 men and could and probably should of equalised in the final minute.
I cannot see where we can change things , bit of a stalemate at the moment, DA isn’t going to sack Sheridan and pay up over 200k, the consortium is about 10 weeks away from potentially taking over, by then we will be cut adrift and planning trips to Guiseley, Brackley, Curzon Ashton etc
A very very sad state of affairs, and I really fear the club has died in front of my eyes.
To all Spireites out there , those that do and don’t attend games, it’s sad sad times
Yet another Evans mistake in less than three minutes and we are one down???
Then look at the build up for the penalty - Gevaro in their half boots the ball high across field in windy conditions and their man says thank you and starts running through our non-existent central midfield so Buchanan does the right thing and brings him down. So they take the free kick and we deal with it and the ball is safely in Coddington's hands then, as he must have been instructed to do as he did it all night, he rolls it out to who I thought was Sheriden, who decides to pass it back inside to Hollis, who is under a bit of pressure so squares it inside the penalty area to Gerrard, who seems to think he has a bit of time but gets closed down quickly and the result is a penalty. Tactically, on a wet and windy night why, oh why, are we rolling the ball out from the keeper when had he kicked it into their half we would not have conceded yet another daft goal?
As a word of note, I can't remember when one of our proper goalkeepers saved a penalty. The last penalty save I remember was when Evans was in the nets so it does make one wonder if we study the opposition's penalty preferences bearing in mind the guy who scored from the spot for Chorley, after Evan's mistake, had his next penalty saved as he put it in the same place as he did against us.
Weston's volley was as good as it gets but a couple of minutes later we have Coddington carried off which makes one wonder if the game should have been played as we had now had two players carried off with injuries from rather innocuous situations.
Boden contributed nothing but I couldn't understand replacing him three minutes into the second half when, if a change was going to be made, it could have been done at half time.
Then, after Tuttle was carried off, Buchanan came on and went into central midfield meaning Shez made two changes to replace one player. Typically, Buchanan was poor in central midfield but after we went down to ten men I thought he played well at right back.
We set up with nothing on the right hand side again but when Maglashan came on we still had nothing.
Whilst Crossley lays the bulk of the blame with the players I think it is about time our management team came to terms with the league we are in and start using more appropriate tactics to the division and not the premiership because the players can't play to a higher level and in this league they get closed down very quickly. I was taught to never pass across my own penalty area and if in doubt put it out. Two simple rules to follow and two simple rules which would have prevented both goals last night and a fair number throughout the season.

He was rightly player of the season last year and not signed by Sheridan, although he gave him an extended contract which appears to have triggered complacency and poor form, but at least he did well in the nets last night

There was a touch of irony in the fact we put an outfield player in goal who couldn't kick when attempting to find Denton who apparently wasn't sat in the East Stand.

Then the only RB at the club, signed far too late anyway, is stretchered off and shortly after that we had the unusual sight of nobody at all on the right wing, but McGuire on the left wing and the three oil tankers across the back. Luckily Yeovil realised they'd won it and eased off, but like most other teams that have come here, you felt they could up the pressure any time and get another.
Loz played well in an interesting selection of positions, none of them his own, and Weston worked hard and scored a brilliant goal. Mandeville and Wedgebury didn't make the bench, such is the array of talent we can afford to leave out to fit in Jay Sheridan.

I heard similar from my mate who coaches at Bromley.
He said we were the worst footballing side all season and looked like they had not had any pre season !
Shameful

All due respect to your mate, but the worst footballing side I've seen all season (excluding Chesterfield) is Bromley.

He must have been watching a different game. For the first 70 mins against Bromley we were far the better Team and played some good football... probably the best we have played in a long while. Your mate is probably talking about the last 20 mins when the inevitable collapse happened. But Bromley were Sh**te too. Just big physical hoofers and their No 13 shouldn't have been on the pitch. Dirty, cheating side, not much skill just a game plan , but I believe that's all you need to do well in this League and get out of it. Something CFC is lacking.

Cos he's given a front 2 a chance and it's failed. The biggest single lesson that has to be learned is that we must revert to 1 more in midfield and a single striker. Last night our 2 man CM was overrun.
Then, they have to be coached right. Basic stuff. We keep seeing throw in's taken square to players who don't want the ball; out swinging corners that go out for a goal kick; shots from the edge of the box free kicks that sail limply over the bar every time; goal kicks that go straight over everybody; players standing offside. The list is very long.
