After what came out straight after about bean going and Carson being back in charge I can't help but feel it was just a distraction teqnique because most hate Carson but there wasn't a big uproar when it happened. Call me synical and all that but I hope it is true.

Given it came from Phil I can only assume there is/was genuine interest. I think the old adage that no news is good news is applicable here, I’m sure AC and DA would revel in telling us that the potential investors were tyre kickers had things fallen apart.

I guess we dont actually know for sure that the 'take over talks with local consortium' leaked by the club to the DT, invoved any potential investors eluded to by Phil.

It could be his post was to prompt a response from the club to engage in talks, or it could be the 'talks' leaked by the club were to try to tempt bidders from out of the woodwork, a bit like chandelier bidding at an auction.

All we can do is wait and hope that any news is positive, when its released.

I assume you're referring to post #10 of the 'Eastleigh Highlights' topic where a contributor called 'Spartan141' told us the match video, which several including yourself criticised, was produced by volunteers: http://www.thecfss.c...showtopic=65825

So given CFC charges a fee for such coverage whilst employing both a media manager and IT provider - who was also awarded an Ass' D' position after bypassing the recognised selection process - your term 'underhand' does seem appropriate.

Though please acknowledge the accusation is levelled at the Club and not those volunteering as your reply, perhaps intentionally, suggests otherwise.

As for people giving up their time for Town, I'm more than happy to take part in a non personal, evidence based discussion about my, your, or anyone else's assistance and the motives for doing so (for the record I've never gone public with any of mine).

On the other hand you might add to the theme of this thread by contrasting all the statements from folk boycotting because of Boardroom behaviour with your repeated claims no one's doing so...

My post was in defence of volunteers in general, down on which you came like a ton of bricks on the last occasion they were asked for - an appeal by the club for a bit of scrub clearing at the training ground,if I recall.
Amongst the vain attempts to justify your total antipathy to anybody who dares to help the club - the club, not the management - the second paragraph is a little classic of brain-dead thinking. By your reasoning the club isn't entitled to charge for anything, since it uses some volunteers who give their services for nothing.
Just one example of muddled thinking. Life's too short to do it for all your posts, and the football's bad enough without wading through endless griping on here.

And here we go again.

After offering references and reason I requested an equally evidence based, non personal reply possibly addressing previous contradictions.

However you've reverted to the same fact free character assassinations that recently earned you a very public slap on the wrist.

Which look especially silly given I've volunteered myself in the past.

But as you've re-visited the issue, perhaps you'll explain why one of those you defended only a few days ago - someone even you can't accuse of being 'in the dark' - has since quit citing an inability to any longer endorse the regime you refuse to criticise?

Good. Maybe they can be professional and keep to those that need to know this time. Assume that anything is happening...

Hello again, it’s been some time since I’ve been on here! I think we were readying ourselves for a play-off game to potentially move into level two for the first time since 1951.

The reason I’m posting again is simple, the club I love and have volunteered at for 42 years is dying. That’s not a position that I ever envisaged when we were being entertained by Paul Cook’s superb side, and whilst at that time I could see that we were more likely to have bad times rather than great times, a second straight relegation battle in the National League did not feature in any of my nightmare scenarios back then.

Our club (that’s OUR CLUB) has been run into the ground and trust in the governance and management capabilities is at an all-time low and continues to fall week by week. Crowds have plummeted after four years of declining results and many decisions, on and off the field, have baffled the majority.

That said, all I want to do at this stage is ask a question, aimed at fans that have been loyal regulars but now don’t come as often or even not at all.

The question is, if the club were to be wholly taken over by a consortium of genuine local supporters, would you consider returning on a more regular basis even if the immediate prospect of a significant upturn in results was not forthcoming?

If your answer is ‘yes’ the response is easy, but please add any comments that could help potential bidders formulate their plans.

If your answer is ‘no’ please say what would need to be implemented to encourage you to return.

I’m asking the question in good faith to potentially help out real and genuine interest in the club’s future wellbeing to enable pragmatic decisions and predictions to be made by a number of people who genuinely have an interest in getting the club back on track and returning to being a vital and respected part of the community once more.

Thanks in advance for any input, it will all be useful.

I’m off to AFC Fylde now (make a turn at Preston, seems ominous), I fear there will not be many there in Blue!!

Phil

Has there been any developments in terms of forming a consortium Phil?

Maybe some of our local rich folk are unaware of the local interest?.Maybe a public call to arms for help?.
Wouldn't want to think the less well off fans could be asked to help.

I'm sort of enthused by the no news is good news stance.
The original post by PT does lend me to believe things were, are afoot and I'm sure that if any local interest did flounder certain people would be very quick to cite the "nobody wants to buy the club", "no local money in Chesterfield" or the "tyre kickers" phrase.
So silence, for me at the moment at least is, Golden!
East stand second class citizen.
