What I fail to understand with this and previous bid is why these local businessmen need to use people like rob/phil. Surely in the present situation where just about everyone would love to see capable and wealthy local businessmen take to the reigns why they appear to want to hide in the shadows.

Oldtimer,
This is one of your posts from back in August (http://www.thecfss.c...7) and it reads as follows:
"I hate to pi## on your dreams but we could be playing 2 tiers below where we are now and they still wouldn't be able to afford to run the club. Once again the words millionaires and two bob spring to mind. Sorry but Dave Allen isn't always wrong, when he said tyre kickers he hit the nail on the head."
Your post rather left me with the impression that you knew the identity of those individuals who were/are involved with the consortium.

I believe that DA and Carson are in a pickle. The finances are on an unprecedented precipice. For the first time, DA has had to write off a huge amount of debt in order to stave off negative equity (or whatever the proper financial term is), and the receding probability of promotion means he is getting deeper and deeper into the doodoo and he'll have to make further write offs.
I understand, in a lovely ironic twist, that the write off was required partly because Allen had to make repayments to despised debenture holders out of his own pocket and that more are required.
On top of that, administrative management at CFC is rocked by incompetence and intrigue which has not dissipated throughout nearly 10 years of Carson's management.
They will sell. If they don't name a realistic price they are stupid.
I've met Zorro but know nothing about Mark Blower - what can you tell us - briefly ?

Hi
he is prominent on Wiki, most recently involved at Macclesfield, but I'm now told he is out of the picture at CFC and in fact was never in the picture. Still, it was fun speculating.

Caveat of being at National league level. But everything has to be right off pitch, and a new approach on pitch too.
Recruiting policy, youth team policy, style of play, continuity between managers, all has to be based on the same principles.

I also explained that contrary to popular belief on this forum that DA wasn't on the ropes and ready to sell the club at a knock down price.
Also contrary to popular belief on here that DA wasn't personally haemorrhaging massive amounts of money down at the Proact.
….. and months later I still think I'm correct with my assumptions.
When I decide to sell something for £2,000. If someone offers £2,000 I hand over the keys and complete paperwork
If someone offers £1,700 I'll not dismiss it but will try to eek a little more from buyer before getting paperwork out of drawer.
If someone offers £400 with the rest over 5 years I'll politely decline
If someone offers £700 I'll turn my back and walk away muttering "effin tyre kickers" as I do so
Unless of course I'm desperate for cash and I'm sure DA is far less desperate than I am for a few quid
Sorry. Original post I meant to type buy and run, I see that I only typed run.

So the short answer was “you don’t know who his backers are and how much money they have”

The thing is though everything's value differs.
You could but a new car for £20k but it depreciates rapidly.
You could buy a work of art or a collectible item for £1k and due to rarity it's value rapidly increases.
A football clubs value is dependant far more than on bricks and mortar. League position, income from crowds, sales etc, squad value and stability.
Due to where we find ourselves nobody in their right mind will pay what DA probably would like because although DA might not be on the ropes, as you put it, the club most certainly is, and it's that what's determining the value so if he did call the previous local consortium tyre kickers I wouldn't link that to any lack of financial muscle they might have at all rather their reluctance to pay over the odds for what in effect at the moment is a very poor item requiring a lot of additional funding and work to get it back to where we all want to be!

Especially if it costs £2000 per year, yet still remains unroadworthy and gives you no pleasure whatsoever. And your family are probably chirping in the background, ‘for goodness sake just get rid, you don’t need problems like this at your time of life’.

I fully understand how you can form those opinions based on the above. However, assuming that you have not been involved with Dave Allen, the consortium or have knowledge of what was offered, if indeed any offer was ever actually made, how can you form the following opinions?
1) I hate to pi## on your dreams but we could be playing 2 tiers below where we are now and they (referring to the consortium) still wouldn't be able to afford to run the club.
2) Once again the words millionaires and two bob spring to mind (referring to the consortium).
3) Sorry but Dave Allen isn't always wrong, when he said tyre kickers he hit the nail on the head.

Thats probably a fair comment, and not far from the truth, especially given his £2m write off by A&S recently.
He's probably cleansing things with his ultimate demise in the back of his mind.
Sure I read somewhere that his family (and A&S shareholders) had absoluteley no interest in Football.
