It’s a general ****show by the sounds of. Very sad to see us in such a mess and the ones that are left at the club running around with no help at all

What’s the deal with the new dugouts? Few very unhappy fans about this on social media too. Didn’t notice them myself but certainly riled a few of the West standers

I've seen something about it being down the the safety certificate and protecting the players etc. But then again that wasn't mentioned in the letters that some people have received.

Does the club shop always close after the game? Random question but they lost a bit of business yesterday. Seems strange with 4 and half thousand in the ground we don’t have the shop open after the game. Dad wanted a shirt and questioned why it wasn’t open.

Don't give Bean any good ideas, he will be asking for volunteers.

I bought a single ticket online, turned up expecting to be able to collect it (I don’t have a printer) and the ticket queue was massive. Asked a steward if I had to queue to collect as I’d purchased online already and she told me I should have printed it off. Great service. To be fair, two more switched-on stewards took it upon themselves a few minutes later to go down the line and direct people to the third ticket window if they’d purchased already, but many weren’t happy at having wasted time queueing and rightly pointed out that a simple sign above that third ticket window would have sorted the problem. Poor organisation as usual. I realise that nowadays the club tries to run on volunteers to save pennies and am not blaming those individuals- as for everything else I blame those running the club for turning the whole ‘enterprise’ into such a shiteshow.

Seriously though

Would anyone buy an online ticket (printable media) without the facility to print it off and then expect the club to sort that out while the queues build up behind you?

Yep, like most stuff I buy on my phone I would expect to make the purchase and then collect (you know, click and collect as utilised in most retail businesses...)

I dont possess a printer as so rarely need one!

Yep, that.
S+D was just trolling.
A simple sign above one window saying 'Collection of pre-paid tickets' would have saved everyone time, including the staff that the club (presumably) pay for. I suppose CFC would argue that I should purchase a printer and ink- so the steward I asked thought, anyway.

Its like the comment about the shop not being open after the game - just because it never has doesnt make it right! Maybe once a month until 5.30 to see how it goes, get those stuck in traffic or waiting for queues to die down to spend (especially if team has just won... perhaps not just yet then!)

Wasnt it the case in previous seasons that pre match they used two windows for sales and the third for collections or you could pick up tickets from the desk in reception?

Ticket queue was probably massive due to folk buying online tickets and asking the staff to print them off

“Ey up love, I’ve got this pdf thingy on me phone, if I email it back to you can you print it off for me please “

Yep... until Saturday, it seems, when confusion reigned. Ah well, it won't affect me again for a while.

well if they havent got a facility to scan from phone then that is an issue they will have to deal with. The world is going paperless, had you not realised? I dont print bits of paper to get on a plane or go to a concert. If CFC insist then they might have to put up with printing it!

I think annoyingly we had the new ground and turnstiles just before the scanning from phones took off properly. Think we are now in a position where i suspect it would cost a fair few quid to upgrade the scanners on the turnstiles to scan from a phone screen. It's a shame because as you say it would make things a whole lot easier, I quite often travel to work in Derby on the train and use a ticket via an app on my phone that i just scan on the barriers at Derby to let me in and out, i use an app on my phone to scan things like supermarket loyalty cards and probably countless other things as well that i can scan from a phone.

The world is going paperless? Still more like wishful thinking than reality may I suggest?.
Just done two flights this week and saw the occasional person using their phone for the boarding pass, but I would not say it has taken off and is the norm as yet. Suspect it is the regular business passengers who are using the new technology mostly, from what I observed. One off travellers and holidaymakers still seem to use paper passes, maybe too big a leap of faith to make until they are familiar and confident with the new electronic systems? I will make a point of looking around again on Wednesday morning, to see if I can get a better estimate of numbers using phones instead of paper passes, it will give me something to do to pass the time. We have been told that we are going paperless since the mid-eighties that I can remember, how do others think it is really happening today?

You are right to an extent, still see a lot of folk using old school tickets on the train and with planes i have used them in the pass but there is always that little bit of doubt that your phone will pack up so i have a paper copy in my bag just in case. Also that fear of being bored in departures so your phone battery gets run down and is dead before you get to the gate! Think there is that generation thing as well with older folk not really trusting technology whilst younger folk will use it as they are more aware of it etc. I had a conversation with my mother in law a couple of weeks ago regarding how i can pay for stuff using my phone with my bank card on it and she was saying how it cant be safe etc. I had to explain how its actually better than contactless payment with your card as it needs your fingerprint or face recognition with the phone for it to go through. Not convinced her to set it up as yet but she's less sceptical now.

Dont get me started on the security issues around contactless..

I know paperless isnt here yet (although in London cashless and paperless are more progressed) but click and collect is a norm in retail. The club will have to embrace that option as more and more people use phones for buying on line - with no ability to print when they are out and about...

Exactly. There's hundreds of fans locked in their cars in the car park, surely a % of those would be willing to nosey around the club shop instead of sitting in the car. Just makes no sense to me when potential business is literally locked in
