Another season begins. With a squad lacking in depth. And the problems of last years midfield and now non-existent right back positions not addressed.

If you want to hold on for a sale until we're promoted, is it not worth giving the manager the funds he needs to do his job?

Fair comment, unlike someone else on here. Get rid Dave. You can do one an all.

He also said this is his last throw of the dice, so if it means a season of struggle in this awful division to force a sale to Zorro and his chums so we rid ourselves of Carson and Allen I’d take it.
A new hope.

I was happy that takeover didn't go through. As they were going to retain MA til the end of the season. But i expected at least a RB and a good central midfielder on top of what we've bought in.

Injuries haven't helped today, but this squad seems well shy of what we need to push for promotion.

No right back and no wingers. It is infuriating. Starting the season with the squad in this shape is pitiful. Cheers Dave.

If we struggle for another season there may not be a club to sell. Even with that 2 mill off the books the way this club loses money it might be back before the season ends if we struggle and the fans stop turning up. Plus when that consortium approached first time we were still a league team, so now they'd not only need to buy the club and pay off Allen and all his debt but now they'll have to throw in loads to try and get us promoted back up to the league. There won't be many people who will invest so much money in a club at this level.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything!

I hate to pi## on your dreams but we could be playing 2 tiers below where we are now and they still wouldn't be able to afford to run the club. Once again the words millionaires and two bob spring to mind. Sorry but Dave Allen isn't always wrong, when he said tyre kickers he hit the nail on the head

To my knowledge Zorro's backers were never disclosed, perhaps you can do us all the honour of naming them.

That's what I thought but he isn't interested in risking more money. We are stuck here unless we somehow get a good team on the cheap.

The club reminds me of Lincoln's long stay in the Conference. Came down with big name players on long contracts, unpopular owners, struggled, got rid of them and replaced with inferior, struggled even more and nearly went down again, and then they unearthed the Cowley brothers from Braintree, and a new board of owners. The rest is history, and now they are a League 1 club. Think it took them 7 years to get back up.

I thought not.

Following your logic, all the teams positioned above us in the footballing pyramid should therefore be owned by individuals who have greater wealth than Dave Allen. How many owners in the national league and leagues 1 & 2 can you name where that is the case?

Was there a clause in Weir's contract that triggered this year or did JS offer him a new deal?

I wonder if any club relegated from the football league to the national league has ever made it back up under the same owners who dumped them down there.

I may be wrong but I believe Sheridan offered him another season without having to, again i'll stand to be corrected but I think I also read that we took up the option of another year on smith and we triggered westons extension clause someway through the last season, ouch, ouch, ouch.

Bristol Rovers. They only spent one season down then got taken over when they got back into the football league.

Sheridan seems happy to have the almost universally derided pair of Weir and Weston in key roles. While the club might be slowly rotting Sheridan has to accept his fair share of the blame for starting the season with what seems a woefully inadequate squad.

We have

I presume he'd be happy to get rid of one or both if he was being backed. RB and CM needed. Sharpish.
