Could India’s hatred of Pakistan influence a potential underperformance against England to prevent Pakistan qualifying for the semi finals?

Do you actually think that Virat Kohli or MS Dhoni would ever let that scenario come to pass. They'd rip of their arms and beat you with the wet end before ever letting their team deliberately under perform in any match.

Wow.

Aussies hammered.

Excellent performance in every department.

A tiny complaint? Bairstow's stupid review.

Daft thing is after all the talk of tosses being crucial being told to bowl during the only period the pitch actually offered owt probably helped.

Offered just a little bit but only because they bowled so well to exploit it.

Noticed the Convicts couldn't avoid cheating though, poor Jason Roy deserved a ton. Johnny Bairstow should put his hand in his pocket to pay his dissent fine for that DRS review.

Most teams do it appealing for those sort of instances, ball down the leg side that the batsman swipes at and misses. Bad mistake from the umpire and it’s why drs is there. Problem is the onus on teams to use it properly and in this case they didn’t. Not sure bairstow is entirely to blame, Roy was at the other end and had some input into the decision for Bairstow to review.

Fantastic match but why at the end when the scores were tied at 241, didn't the number of fallen wickets break the tie? Them's just the rules?
These go to eleven.

Unbelievable jeff. Just wish it had been the cheats in final. But they should have never been allowed to play.

Brilliant game showing cricket at its best. Thrilling to the end.

Rules these days mean super over... ie extra time. Pretty much the norm these days.

Rules, dear boy, Rules!

The conclusion of the match were guided by competition rules, relevant to that specific competition and not covered in "The Laws of the game"

You'll have to accept that folk from Siberia know more about cricket than yorkshiremen!!!!

Agreed 100%. This type of cricket is all about slogging fours and sixes. That's what the public turn up to see. Totally appropriate that the winners should be the team that hit the most.

Its no different to a football world cup final being decided on pens in a way after they've played for 90mins then 30mins and couldnt get a winner. Folk have said for years penalties are a crap way to do it but everyone knows thats what will happen before it all starts so no team can really moan about it....well India would but thats because Kohli is a complete XXX!!

Gonna sound twee but cricket was the winner.

You just can't write drama like that - and watched by millions for free!

Chuffed to bits we won, absolute respect for how NZ handled themselves - on and off the field - and a thoroughly enjoyable tournament from start to finish.

One thing, though.

This England team have the batting and bowling to destroy opponents - but their Achilles heel is knocking those ones and twos that keep the scoreboard ticking.

Summat for Bayliss's successor to work on.
