Bandfest this Saturday at the Hollingwood Hotel.

Cracking line up of local bands, and just hope the weather holds up!

Weather permitting might well " make one "

Sound Thieves always a good act when Ive seen them at New Whittington

ended up in there at the weekend, the new dancefloor is truly unbelieavble!

rasied about 6" from the floor and a random block edging pattern, people were stumbling on and off (and not due to the watered-down ale!)

There's no way I'd end up in there without being a gallon deep so I doubt I'd much notice.

Changed hands recently i Was told hence the slight refurb. Some things remain the same like the ancient birds in there and the drink is more watered down then before and a tad pricier. They should get done under the weights and measures acts. Think George Reynolds is the new owner ha ha.

Just drove past the bottom of the road and notice a To Let sign up, so doubt it will re-open until and if new tenents are found, would be very sad to see such an iconic pub be lost for good

There’s a photo on fb. Got metal shutters up so it may be shut a long time.

I wouldnt have expected it to be closed long. Has that huge Geordie bloke had it until recently. I found him pretty unwelcoming as a landlord to be honest as if you were an inconvenience to him.

Ant was in the Boythorpe Pub (or Blue Stoops.. can’t remember which) the last I heard. Could also take this full circle as he had the Twisted Pinnacle too prior to it being 7s.

I'm sure he's a nice chap but I never saw him crack a smile once.

Apparently he's now moved to the Woodside

My local. Theoretically. Identical distance pretty much to four pubs in each direction. I'd like them to give me more reason to want to go but the overpriced beer rarely has before.

Biffy Clyro in Scarborough on Friday was brilliant, great venue and it even stayed dry!

I've never seen them, but Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie are two fine fine albums.

Would recommend seeing Dinosaur Pile-Up on the second stage if you're there early enough.

Cheers, top recommendation. Made a good start to the day.

Glad to hear it. Hope the weather was better yesterday than the previous days. Looked like a mudbath.

Another one, no shock at all. When anth the big guy who seems to have a hybrid chesterfield/Newcastle accent left he took his bar manager Chris and chef to the boythorpe and the Rutland went down the pan rapidly. Food seemed to stop and beer was often on the turn and there was a merrygo round of people running it. I sacked it off after one bad pint too many. Traditional pub in a central location, hope it reopens. Tbh pubs in chesterfield seem to reopen and reinvent themselves quicker than in other similar sized towns.

Really , had some good carveries in there. The bloke is an acquired taste sometimes cracking away and other times been rather rude Guess it depends on how much drink he had, seen him more drunk than punters sometimes. I think he's seconded into pubs to chase punters away and run them into the deck

Yes, Anth has moved to the Woodside

And doesn't drink much these days, he's lost about 8 stone in the last 6 months! You probably wouldn't recognise him!

Shame to see the Rutland shut, and 7s to be fair, 2 places in a decent town centre location that should be able to make a go of it if they are run properly

And I agree with your point about pubs in town, there have been many changes to names etc in the 20 odd years I've been drinking round town, in fact The Rutland was one of the few Town centre pubs left that was pretty much the same as it was when I started drinking!
