France v Norway, Norwegian defender tackles French forward, gets ball and catches forward's knee, clearly completely accidentally as her foot follows through. Idiots operating VAR + ref give France a penalty and probably the game. VAR is absolute rubbish because every action looks deliberate in ultra slow motion. Humans play the game in real time, and VAR will absolutely kill the game if it is allowed continue.

I agree was never a penalty....... the Norwegian girl caught the top of the ball with the tackle and also the french girl jumped in at the ball 2 footed.

Correct, free kick to Norway if anything for a two-footed tackle.

Prime example of why VAR doesn’t work for these iffy sort of ones. No end of crap decisions are going to be given after countless slow motion replays.

Anyone see the VAR incident in injury time in the U20 WC semi between Italy and Ukraine? Great equaliser completely ruined by a VAR decision not even looking like the foul it was purported to be in slo-mo. It’s ruining the game. Get rid.

I've said for ages that video replays will struggle to work in football, the sports it works in currently are all stop start sports in the main or in the case of Rugby they seem capable of using it far better. The yes\no decisions in football like has the ball crossed the line or even offside if and when the tech comes along where if need be the ref is alerted accordingly will be fine as they dont mean a break in play etc. However these reviewed fouls etc is just turning into a farce and even with it being used in big tournaments and leagues it seems as though its all still a trial. God knows whats going happen when its used in the Premier League next season.

In theory we are meant to be overturning decisions where its clear footage that a mistake has been made...what we're actually seeing is borderline decisions being overturned after countless slow motion replays from multiple angles where its still a baffling decision being made.

& twice in today’s australia v Brazil game.
Australia had a pen award overturned for a handball in the build up & australias third awarded, disallowed for offside & then after ref being called over to view replays awarded again.

VAR needs to be quicker the idea was to look at obvious errors. It isnt being used for that the referee is sitting back and waiting for someone to make decisions for them that's how I see it anyway.

How do you all think a match between the USA womens team and Chesterfield mens team would turn out?

That penalty was an even worse decision. Clean challenge made to look worse in slow time.

Looks like the Scots got done over, a clear handball and yet no var check, really is a waste of time.
all we are saying, is give us ...a goal, or 2+

Agreed, defender was going for the ball, slowmo made it look as if she chopped the striker down. By the way, I've never seen a more extreme example of a 'homer' ref than the one in the France game who let them have another go at the missed penalty because VAR showed the keeper's toe moved two cm ahead of the line. How many refs ever bother with that unless it's absolutely blatant?
