Haydn Hollis is the first to sign, would you have kept him if so why,and if not,why not?
The Spireites have made their first signing of the summer with defender Haydn Hollis signing a one-year deal with the club.

The 26-year-old spent the majority of last campaign on loan at the Proact Stadium and made 35 league appearances, scoring one goal.

I'm happy with that. Mainly because I know it'll upset Spire Power. 😁

Steady enough at this level and an integral part of the defence that was transformed under Sheridan. Might have an occasional slip up, but that's the level we're at now. Happy enough.

I think it's a getting started signing. He did well once Shez was here, would like another Centre Back for competition but I'm sure based on money/ability its a good deal

See it’s a one year deal. Seem to recall Barry was also offered a one year deal.

Is this a signal that the transfer policy and handing out contracts is under stricter control?
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

Not overjoyed at this. But at least it’s only a one year deal. Surprised someone with better “looking after the ball” ability couldn’t be found.

Agree with the sentiment, but didn't Barry choose a 2 year deal with Barrow over a 1 year deal with us?

Wasnt it a case that we offered him a deal but he got offered a longer deal on more money at Barrow so signed for them. Not like we've let him go as such.

I reckon he’ll struggle in league 1, good job we aren’t in league 1. Some would do well to remember that. Hollis is alright and performed well next to Evans when Sheridan came in.

I'm happy with the one year deal,King John knows his players,he should after all,he sees them in training and knows what they can do.
More signings to follow soon i would think.

For all of his limitations that people want to pick up on lets not forget that he was a major part of the side that under Sheridan displayed promotion form to, in the end, comfortably pull away from the relegation zone. Sheridan presumably feels he can be a useful part of the side going forward and on a one year deal if we go up then there is a good chance he wont be around for the league 2 campaign.

I didn’t want us to sign either but I’d have preferred Barry at a pinch. The one saving grace was that they were offered one year contracts and nothing more (hopefully - no option to extend)

All we know at this point is that Shez thinks he can be a useful part of the squad, we don’t know the team yet.

Because we became hard to beat with Hollis in and with Barry out.

Talk about over complicating things. Why would a 'keep it simple' man like Sheridan break up a goalie/CH combination that displayed promotion winning defensive form after he started coaching them?

I'd have dismissed them both. Hope Haydn proves me wrong. I'll back him, of course.

Glad it’s only a year. If he does what he did towards end of this season he should be orate but expect a few shockers.

Not sure where the desire to see Barry here comes from. A poor player who will be forgotten in a couple of years at the most
