Massive gig coming up for me in November. One of the few bands I know pretty much all the lyrics to pretty much every song. Can’t wait.

Macc Lads, Sheffield Academy Nov 23rd.

Ultrabeat :-)

Got dragged along on Saturday by the OH and Mark Labbett was doing a PA, there was an interactive quiz after the Bingo and the winners went head to head against him for prize money (£500 IIRC) which went to charity as he blew everyone else away lol.

Dare I say it, an enjoyable night....

Ultrabeat weren't around in the 90s were they?

Sure they were early 2000s - Pretty Green Eyes would have been around 2004

just looked at the Bingo event

£25+ seems a bit steep for less than half of S Club 7, some of Five and a dance group who had 1 or 2 hits

Still might go mind!

How do they staff it? A few hours every other month?

That’s one of the reasons it’s chaos at the bar on the rare busy nights. If you’re a good barstaff you’re working regular in one of the pubs not waiting for a couple of hours every other month at the avenue.

Not sure what the current ownership statius is, but the last filing at CH for the original company was liquidators being appointed in July 2018

Indeed, How does it stay open? Only seems to be 1 event a month and the rates must cost a fortune. The bar staff are probably students and folk with other jobs who want the occasional bit of extra cash. A well equipped venue been truly under used

Went to the avenue on Friday to see Martin Kemp, 1st time in a year, hardly as if there out on! The place is a joke. With it been a nightclub you would presume the event would finish late but it was all wrapped up by 11:30ish. The band, atomic had started early about 8ish so missed half of there set. Was it worth 20 quid, absolutely not. Martin Kemp must have only been on for a hour max. Talking to a couple of folk after who reminded me that the pat sharp thing I went to last year was only a fiver! Clearly trying to milk as much as possible on a rare night the place is open. Which again makes me think what's the business model at the place? For the rest of the year there's a t rex tribute, quadraphenia night and casts that's it. Could imagine the business rates been a fortune yet despite lack of events it's lasted over 2 year

Class venue mate- only problem is no beers on tap- all bottles poured in plastic glasses.

If your driving there I recommend paying for the car parking at the venue- £4.00 and right next to the venue- relatively small car park so didn’t take long to get out

Making the night of it mate and stopping over. Only £42 in Premier Inn so saves hassle and of course I can have a good drink.

Should be able to find a couple of decent boozers nearby to get in the mood before we go in.
