Alright everyone,

First time doing Shots away on Saturday (and I'm dragging my Newcastle-supporting mate along with me) - currently exiled in the south.

Was wondering where the majority of town fans would be (think there are two different away sections?) and if there was a nearby away-friendly pub.

Plus any other helpful hints and tips you might have.

Give yourselves some time to get to the away end, they send you through a park and round the houses.

There not really two sections just a continuous ‘L’ shaped terrace by the corner flag. The bit of that behind the goal is covered. There are also seats in the adjacent stand. There is a pub on the hill near the entrance to the small park you go through to get to the away turnstiles. If you are coming from the town centre there are some rather rough pubs there, but be watchful because it is obvious you are an away fan walking up the hill. There was minor skirmishes on one of the recent games in the town and on the hill.

Both the town and ground Is a dump (out of keeping with the general affluence in the area) but the home fans generate a decent atmosphere for the size of crowd

I've been on all 4 sides and I can't say it in one of my top 100 away grounds.

We're going on a minibus for some bizarre reason so should be down fairly early. La Fontaine is at the top of the road to the away end, Town centre is slightly better though for drinking but is a dump, think we will find a sports bar with the early kick off on and take it from there. Beehive and Crimea were the two I went in last time

Quite like the away end, proper old school terrace you share 50/50 with home fans so usually a decent atmosphere.

I have a very good friend who lives so close they have an Aldershot telephone code, and they have said I can stay the night if I want - but after the latest efforts coming out of Sheffield Road - and more specifically the petulant comments about libel actions of a man who has CHOSEN to put himself in the public eye in front of a passionate band of supporters - I really cant be bothered.

Will drive the wrong way and come and see family instead!

Very much my thoughts, if I hadn’t organised transport for 15 others months ago I wouldn’t be going. Used to just go to away games pretty much anyway but not even bothered about that as much now.

One of the pubs near where the buses park has now closed but there is another close by but a little small.

La Fontaine is / was the pub next to the away end (or should I say start of the uphill and down dale country walk through the park to the away end).

Last time I went that geezer on loan from Hudders scored, Chris someone or other, Atkinson maybe?
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

I remember it as a "proper" ground, although can't remember there being a fourth side. Perhaps it had been flattened (that was the end by the road/way in). The last time I went, the away end was a strange corner with no roof.

That was the second game that I had gone to with the ex-wife. The first - a little at random - was to see Southampton beat Arsenal 4-2, with Alan Shearer scoring a hat-trick on his league debut, and I won some money at the bookies as it was Grand National day.

Anyway, this one ended 6-0 to Aldershot. After that, it was hard to convince that we weren't likely to see 6 goals every time.

Only about an hour door to door for me from SW London, but I’m really struggling to find any enthusiasm for going tomorrow.
