I totally agree with you, but in the real world emotions get high and people do daft things. Had the keeper not provoked the crowd they may not have reacted how they did.
Problem is we do appear to have issues with folk in the Kop generally thinking its fine to go over the hoardings and encroach onto the pitch. Taking away the Boxing Day incident which is probably separate in how it came about we've had a number of incidents where fans have gone onto the pitch after goals\wins when they shouldnt be there, many of which we've probably got away with but some other higher profile incidents that havent. For mention of other clubs we've had two incidents now of fans getting involved with opposition keepers for some unknown reason. You could potentially understand jumping over and getting involved in a celebration with our players which some did but what goes through the mind of an idiot who thinks the way to celebrate is to run into the net and get involved with their keeper or any other players. Whether they hit them, the keeper or someone grabbed them....its just brain dead and they shouldnt be in that position for anything to happen full stop.
We've had a long spell of having to net off the first couple of rows to try and stop it happening. At the end of the day no matter what fans shouldnt be on the pitch, thousands of others managed to celebrate perfectly fine staying behind the hoardings, what was different in the eyes of the planks that deemed it necessary to jump the hoardings. As usual its a minority of idiots that are probably going to cause issues for the majority either with a possible points deduction we can ill afford or whatever other penalty we could get thrown at us.

if there were any rascist comments that is nothing to do with the club surely? That is the individual v the keeper
Fans will be deemed part of the club and its the club that will be investigated and penalised by the FA i would have thought. Whether we can nip it in the bud with a quick investigation and deal with it if required may be seen favourable towards us. Its a hot topic currently so we'll have to see what happens.
