No, deadly serious. And in case you're thinking that it's bad publicity - in the first place there's no such thing, and in the second the Mail wouldn't print it or employ MA if it wasn't what the public like to read.
The whole reaction to it is just another example of how low this board has sunk. Nobody out there's interested in CFC's troubles, but there'll be plenty who'll take an interest in that article because he's ticked a lot of boxes - underdogs getting ready for a cup shock, ex cup-finalist talking about the Wembley experience, bacon butties, bizarre hair cut, he's even name-checked ManU and some legendary players for heaven's sake.
So yes, I'm serious. It's got the club in the public eye for a lot of good reasons. What's not to like?

I know it’s a saying, but the idea that there’s ‘no such thing as bad publicity’ is clearly nonsense. I can only assume you haven’t given it much thought but there’s time yet.

I could list dozens of examples, but I’ll leave you with two words that will mean something to a man of your years; ‘Gerald Ratner’.

As far as his column goes, I really couldn’t give a monkeys about it. Other than it playing up to the ‘Mad’ tag that he’s ended up for a few cheap attempts at laughs, it doesn’t absolutely zero for either his credibility (if he ever had any) or ours for employing him and letting him peddle this guff while taking us into the relegation places to regional football.

If you like it then good for you but it’s not for me.

There’s a world outside football, but when folk are talking football, which is the whole purpose of this Board, I think we can take it as a given, League Tables are important. Very.

Sadly they've been very important for us this last two years!

He's getting us publicity that we'd pay thousands for if we had a PR firm to do it, but the best you can do is abuse the owner and the paper he writes for.
And it might be badly written by your own high standards, but for a newspaper it's standard fare. He doesn't use a comma for plural words for instance.

Let's meet up and discuss it over a pint, go on i dare you

The league table is important to me. I express my heartbreak by not looking at it.

For one thing, its the Daily Mail, a newspaper I wouldnt swat flies with.

For another its just another reminder of where we are now. This sort of column holds us up as some sort of quaint and plucky Football Family Robinson* outfit (*younger readers, ask your dad, or your grandad) to be patronised and sniggered at.

And its a measure of Martin Allen that he is willing to cast himself as some of panto eccentric rather than a serious football manager for a few quid from his journo mates.

Correct.
He's playing to the gallery at Town's expense.
We are just providing a backdrop for his cartoonish and contrived eccentricities.

Bottom few leagues aren't taken seriously, some big clubs are like Sunderland but where we are it's like a circus sideshow

Thats right, and by being saddled with a buffoon for a manager and a Board made up of 10 bob millionaires straight out of Phoenix Nights, Town are sitting ducks for the ridicule that Allen's columns invite.

Live table, currently 3rd bottom of the National league.

Recently you spoke of improvements, could you go into a little bit more detail on these improvements please?
A new hope.
